Upon reading the script, Comanche consultant Juanita Pahdopony wrote, "The script has great imagery and conflict with storytelling potential. I particularly enjoyed seeing a Comanche woman achieving a 'Wonder Woman' empowerment in the script! These days, we're trending in movies! However, we Comanche women were always powerful strong characters although not correctly portrayed in history and written accounts. So, thank you to the script writers."
Jade Roberts, who plays the Marshal, has worked professionally as a Sylvester Stallone impersonator for years. His film credits include 2019's Thalasso, a French film starring Gérard Depardieu, in which he plays a character named Sylvester Stallone and 2013's Hunger Games parody, The Starving Games, in which he plays Stallone's Barney Ross character from The Expendables.
Timothy Barnett, who plays a Comanche elder, did stunt work on 1992's The Last of the Mohicans. That celebrated film's story takes place 101 years before Barnett's 1858 scenes in The Legend of Marshal Dead.
Bill Looney, creator of the logos for The Legend of Marshal Dead, performed as a bassist in a rock band called The Penthouse 5 in the 1960s. The band, based in the Dallas suburb of Oak Cliff, was influenced by the Beatles, the Kinks, and the Byrds. Looney's bandmate Steve Wood (guitar, vocals, keyboards) went on to perform with The Pointer Sisters and Kenny Loggins.
Writer/Director Marc Isaacs is a member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. With more than 9,000 members, the band is the third-largest First Nation in the Canadian province of Ontario.
