a return

The documentaries about Jesus Christ are many. But, for me, this is special in high measure. First, for admirable Robert Powell job. He is the honest searcher, looking for details, asking, reminding, evoking crumbs from his performance in the film of Franco Zeffirelli , in honest, delicate and smart manner. As pre - teenager ]n the last years of Ceausescu regime, I saw "Jesus of Nazareth" as the first religious lesson . And this serie is the perfect return, at different level, with same guide , to a fundamental figure, Son of God for us, Christians, in different terms. So, just admirable work.

Nothing like using an atheist to do a Jesus documentary

Don't be fooled. Remember Robert Powell's Jesus of Nazareth for what it meant to you at the time and the impact it had on your life. Powell has never been a professed Christian, and this documentary features and begins with Professor Bart D. Ehrman telling us that none of the gospels were eyewitness accounts, which is a lie (at the very least you could say most Christians DO NOT agree with that - which the documentary does not do.) Secondly, you can do a simple Google search and find that Ehrman is an ATHEIST -- listen to his WUNC interview in which he excoriates Christians and everything they believe. "The Sunday School Teacher Turned Skeptic: Meet Bart Ehrman." Less than ten minutes into this documentary, you know you are being played. And frankly, it's a cruel trick. Shame on Robert Powell.

The Chosen Has Spoiled It

I decided to watch because of the title. Wow, I'm sorry I did! Even if you've never watched the Chosen, you'll see how poorly done this series is. Where the Chosen uses the Bible as it's guide, I'm not sure what this series uses. Im not sure if it's the actor who portrays Jesus or the script writing, but he seems like he has some kind of physical problem. The rest of the cast is not very good. It feels like an unsuccessful attempt at Shakespeare. If you really want to watch a series that is Bible based and more authentic in its portrayals, watch the Chosen. "The Real Jesus of Nazareth" is neither real or authentic in any way.
