Although the Bürgerbräukeller, the site of the putsch, was still in existence, and had not been demolished until years after the war, the anniversary was observed at the nearby Löwenbräukeller. The change was likely due to the failed assassination attempt against Hitler occurring at the Bürgerbräukeller during the anniversary in 1939.
