Have a break X Factor, you need it

And so the aged dinosaur of a talent show wanders towards extinction.

Simon Cowell is clearly trying all he can to try to breathe new life into the format, but it probably really just needs a rest.

Much like the 'Celeb' version earlier this year there were moments of brilliance, but I doubt the winner of this show will go on to do much, as the platform is weaker than it used to be.

Shorter format is fun brain candy nothing more - nothing less.

By now - (at the time of this writing it's over a decade) everyone who watches X Factor knows what to expect... unashamed pop, screaming audience and a crowned "winner" and tears.

The revamped format allows for audience participation but the format is in line with the Puff Daddy's "The Four" whereby the selection and the final choice of whom the new band members is by the hand of ONLY the main judges Simon and Nicole, and if the group competition is going to be a once-a-year annual thing I think Simon Cowell may have recycled a "new thing" from an old and tired format.

Season 1 has us introduced to a really talented female songwriter (think 'James Arthur' or 'Ed Sheeran') so getting through the 4 weeks isn't going to disappoint however the 'judges' do prattle on a bit - much longer than their norm.

Overall, if you like these rag to riches stories of dreams and triumphs and the embarrassing 15min famers then you'll love it if not - you won't.
