In Javid's basement, there is a checkered keffiyeh and agal the black rope that holds the keffiyeh in place pinned to one of the walls. The black checkered keffiyeh is a famous symbol of the Palestinian people and is not normally worn in either Lebanon or Iran unless someone is showing solidarity with the Palestinians. Instead of the checkered keffiyeh, the agal is worn together with a white gutra, a headdress which is worn mostly in the Persian Gulf countries of Qatar, Bahrain, UAE and most famously Saudi Arabia.

Driving from Lebanon to Iran, as Ramzi does with Doug, would actually take more than a week as Baalbek is over one thousand miles from the Iranian border. For Ramzi to drive the great distance he would also have to pass through Syria and Iran facing border checks and random police stops on his journey. The stops would mostly likely raise the local authorities' suspicions.
As Ramzi is dying Doug leans over and holds Ramzi. Ramzi dies with his eyes open, Doug uses his hand to close Ramzi's eyes but the actor closes his eyes before Doug's hand touches his eye lids.
