aw, Michelle... the Dawn patrol here...
Still think Michelle Trachtenberg is just wonderful snookums cute. I've been neglecting to say this for the past couple weeks while watching on DVD, but back in the days of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER I was a h-u-g-e Dawn aficionado. It's really kinda weirdly amazing to watch Michelle play the bad girl, and acquit herself so damn well. Some fans tend to really hate the villains, so I would just like to point out, wow, Michelle, I still love ya, kid!
As for the big secret revealed, how utterly lame. The evidence: Party girl Serena might well be, but in her now-mostly-sober times, this girl ain't dumb. Serena would have recollected what happened and known it wasn't her fault and that she didn't kill anybody. What she is guilty of: excessive drug use, which in turn means: no respect for herself, her body, and ultimately those around her. She is prone to "loose living" and being a disgrace to herself. If this was real life, I'd have wept for this waste of a young life. But I digress. I'm pointing out that the major story arc of Serena believing she had killed that guy is a superficially contrived weak contraption i.e. utterly lame... and Josh Schwartz (with so much talent at his disposal) could have seen to it that something more convincing was utilized.
