Aj McLean and his wife, Rochelle DeAnna McLean, are hitting the brakes on their marriage. On Monday, the couple announced they've decided to take a break from their relationship, though they're not divorcing.
"Marriage is hard, but worth it. We have mutually decided to separate temporarily to work on ourselves and on our marriage with the hope of building a stronger future," the pair told Popsugar in a joint statement after TMZ broke the news. "The plan is to come back together and continue to nurture our love for one another, and our family. We ask for respect and privacy at this time. Separation is hard enough without the commentary, please be kind and remember there are children involved."
Aj, 45, and Rochelle first began dating in early 2009. The Backstreet Boy proposed to the hairstylist almost a year later and they tied the knot in December 2011. The duo have two kids together,...

The dawn of RuPaul’s Drag Race at the turn of the 2010s marked the beginning of drag’s proliferation in the mainstream and on television. Drag Race has exploded all over the world with over a dozen (and counting) international franchises, and has inspired the creation of new shows centered around drag. Queen of the Universe is one of these shows, combining drag with live singing in a Drag Race-meets-American Idol-style competition. And when Queen of the Universe returns for its second season on Paramount+ in March 2023, two Drag Race alumnae will be competing for the crown.

The LALAPaRuZa lip sync smackdown has become one of RuPaul’s Drag Race‘s most iconic challenges, as queens compete against each other in jaw-dropping lip syncs to keep their spot in the competition. Season 15 of Drag Race had a larger-than-life LALAPaRuZa, with queens performing to songs such as Anitta‘s “Boys Don’t Cry” and Joan Jett’s “Do You Wanna Touch Me.” Some of the songs in the lip sync tournament have been used on Drag Race in the past.

The journey to this week’s final episode of Ru Paul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race has been a rather unique one considering that the celebrities were forced to reveal themselves a few weeks ago. I don’t fully understand why this decision was made but I think that it sort of negates the inclusion of “secret” in the title so we spend three episodes knowing exactly who everyone is without this being used within a number. I personally think it is criminal that we did not get a rendition of “Proud Mary” by Chic-Li-Fay/Kevin McHale as this would have been a wonderful nod to his time on the hit musical TV show Glee (and is also one of my all-time favourite songs!) We could have also had a rendition of “It’s Not Unusual” by Tom Jones from Chakra Seven, as this song has become synonyms with Fresh Prince...

Carson Kressley had a special connection to one of the stars who took part in Season 2 of “RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race” – they were co-stars on the original installment of “Queer Eye (for the Straight Guy”).
Thom Filicia turned up on the show earlier in the season, taking on the drag persona Jackie Would. As Kressley settled in as a judge for the VH1 show, it took a minute for him to recognize that his co-star from “Queer Eye,” also his co-host on “Get a Room With Carson & Thom,” and a longtime close friend was the queen onstage. Of course, he’d left his glasses backstage.
“We filmed it on a new stage. It just felt very, very different from the regular ‘Drag Race,” Kressley told TheWrap when we spoke with him Friday ahead of the show’s Season 2 finale on VH1. “I was out of my element and out of sorts a little bit.

Aj McLean is opening up about his 9-year-old daughter's recent decision to change her name to Elliott. Ahead of Friday's season two finale of "RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race" (in which Aj is facing off against Tatyana Ali and Mark Indelicato for the title of America's next celebrity drag superstar), the 44-year-old father of two tells Popsugar that the new name isn't a "sexual or transgender thing" for Elliott.
Even though Aj and his wife, Rochelle, only recently revealed Elliott's name change to the public, the Backstreet Boys singer says she's been using the moniker for over a year. "It took some getting used to. But I tell people, she's Elliott," Aj says. "But if she's in deep doo-doo, she's Ava James McClean, and that's how she knows she's in some serious, serious hot water with daddy. If I full name her, she knows."

Aj McLean has been performing practically all of his life, but his experience on season two of "RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race" is unlike anything the singer has ever done before. The 44-year-old Backstreet Boy is the star behind the fabulous Poppy Love, and as he heads into Friday's finale - competing against Tatyana Ali (Chakra 7) and Mark Indelicato (Thirsty Von Trapp) - he's reflecting on his whirlwind journey on the show.
"It's different, obviously," McLean tells Popsugar of how performing as Poppy Love compares to taking the stage with the Backstreet Boys. "And anytime you're doing something on your own, when you come out of a group, all the weight kind of falls on your shoulders, so you have to carry the performance. You have to carry whatever it is that you're doing. You don't have four other guys to lean on."

Friday night brings the big finale of “RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race” Season 2, and going into the last round of competition, it really is anyone’s game.
Poppy Love (aka Backstreet Boy Aj McClean), Thirsty Von Trapp (aka “Ugly Betty’s” Mark Indelicato), and Chakra 7 (aka “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” alum Tatyana Ali) are running neck and neck as they compete for the crown.
“Aj not only came out of the box really strong, he remained really strong,” judge Michelle Visage told TheWrap when we spoke with her and co-panelist Ross Mathews on Thursday (you can watch our conversation above). “Poppy, you know, we’ve said this on the show — she’s one of those queens that we know is going to kill it every time.”

Poppy Love, aka Aj McLean, has made it to the season two finale of "RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race," and win or lose, he's undoubtably left his mark on the show. Week in and week out, viewers witnessed McLean work tirelessly to bring magic to the stage as Ms. Love, from his Lady Gaga-inspired "Born This Way" performance to his out-of-this-world "The Boy Is Mine" duet with Morgan McMichaels.
McLean tells Popsugar it's an "honor" and a "privilege" to have made it this far in the competition. "I could have been bounced after episode one, and I still would've had the f*cking best time of my life. This experience changed me for the better," he says. "The number one thing that I took from this show is to love the body that I'm in. And it's been absolute heaven."

I could totally understand why people would have thought that last week’s episode of Ru Paul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race was the final episode in the season. The whole point of this season was that all the celebrities are secret and so starting the episode with making the top five reveal themselves was a rather strange creative choice. On top of this, the queens had to not only perform a solo number (which was a rendition of one of Ru Paul’s songs) but also a group number which is usually reserved for the final episodes of regular Drag Race. This homage to Ru would have made sense as the season finale as every performer would have gone through the drag race journey and so would be able to relate to the songs more so than they could have before. After reaching what can only be described as the...

I have to admit that last week’s episode of Ru Paul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race was one of the best episodes this season with every queen sticking to the 90s influence of the episode with a fabulous range of different perspectives which was great to watch! The episode ended with an expected top two lip-sync between Donna Belisama and Chakra Seven which saw the former claim her first-ever win of the season! This slight twist in the competition structure made total sense in my opinion as every performer did very well in their individual performances so having a battle for the overall winner made was appropriate! However, this was not the only dramatic twist of the episode, as it came to an end with Ru Paul announcing that as of next week there will be no more secrets. Usually, this sort of twist would have been reserved for the...

"RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race" invites celebrities to compete in drag without revealing their identities - which, of course, makes for a lot of fan speculation as to who's who. Now, the wait is over, as the contestants of season two all shared their identities on the sixth episode, which aired on Sept. 16.
"RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race" is a spinoff of "RuPaul's Drag Race," which has currently run for 14 seasons, not including six "All Star" seasons. In the first season, each episode involved a competition between three different contestants competing in various "Drag Race" challenges. Season one's winners were Jordan Connor, Vanessa Williams, Matt Iseman, Alex Newell, Dustin Milligan, and Hayley Kiyoko. Meanwhile, Jermaine Fowler, Nico Tortorella, Loni Love, Tami Roman, Madison Beer, and Phoebe Robinson were runners-up.

You know that moment when you see a friend or family member for the first time in a few years and you struggle to recognise them because it’s been such a long time, and you can’t tell if they have had significant work done or changed hairstyle etc. That’s how I felt watching the first episode of this season of Ru Paul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race! There are a few similarities between season one and season two which helped me regain my excitement for the show but there are many, many differences. In fact, I think that season one and season two could have functioned as two completely separate spin-offs – the former being a celebrity drag race and the latter being a secret celebrity drag race, so that there can be even more phases into the Ru-universe (the Ru Paul universe.) The new format of Ru Paul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race,...

Season one of Ru Paul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race had a very different format from the newest season. The original season saw three mystery celebrities enter the werk room to experience a drag makeover that was managed by three of the most successful queens from the normal franchise.
While the celebs used on each episode were a surprise on an episode-by-episode basis, there were very few surprises within the episode itself. I think that season one wanted to highlight the idea of the drag transformation and so seeing what the celebrities looked like before and after the process was really important. However, the newest season seems to place a much bigger focus on the performative side of drag with the guests each performing a lip-sync number to entertain the crowd. Improv and comedy challenges seem to be the weakness of these queens. Case in point: the mixed reception of the jokes during RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14 Episode 13.
Landing a joke is a fine art, and some of these performers were skilled comics. For the others? The cringe was in full effect.
But did "The Ross Mathews Roast" live up to the Roasts that came before?
For an excellent Roast to be legendary in Drag Race herstory, it needs some powerhouse zingers, a few memorable moments, and more than half of the queens doing well.

And then there were four. Again. Thursday’s penultimate episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 6 began by welcoming one queen back to the competition, then ended by crushing another queen’s dream entirely.
Let’s start with the “twist” that we all saw coming: Despite winning — nay, crushing — six lip syncs in a row, Silky Nutmeg Ganache was once again sent sashaying away. Instead, the coveted fifth spot went to Eureka, which means we can pretty much forget that the whole “game within a game” thing even happened.

It’s lucky 13 for “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
VH1 has renewed the Emmy-winning reality competition series for a 13th season, the network announced on Thursday. “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” was also renewed for a sixth season, and the unstructured after-show “Untucked” — which depicts the backstage conversations between contestants during judge deliberations — was renewed for the flagship series and “All Stars.”
“Drag queens have been on the frontlines of many challenging times in our history,” said host and executive producer RuPaul in a statement. “‘RuPaul’s Drag Race 13,’ ‘All Stars 6’ and new seasons of ‘Untucked’ will offer more opportunities for our queens to rise to the occasion and spread the love.”
The renewal comes as no surprise, given that the “Drag Race” franchise has arguably never been stronger. Season 12 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” was the highest rated season in the show’s history — sorry, herstory — and it was recently nominated for best reality competition series.

For four glorious weeks in April and May, Fridays on VH1 belonged to “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” First, viewers could watch the 90-minute episodes of the Emmy-winning reality show’s 12th season, in which 13 drag queens compete to be crowned “America’s next drag superstar.” Then they could take in a 90-minute episode of the four-part special “RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race,” in which three bold-faced names stepped into the show’s workroom for full drag makeovers and the chance to win $30,000 for the charity of their choice. And then fans could stick around for “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked,” the 30-minute aftershow in which the Season 12 queens dish, bitch, and throw copious shade while they wait for the main show’s judges to deliberate on who should win that week, and who should be told to sashay away.
