A young woman acting as an undercover agent (a "confidential informant") dealing meth is found dead. It appears she died falling on a glass coffee table and a wine glass punctured her carotid artery.
The CSI investigation leads to the FBI man working with her. Natalie used to work with the guy and knows what a womanizer he was, so he is prime suspect. Why is it CSI shows almost aways make other crime agencies, along with the government agencies, out as the bad guys? The answer is politics. For some reason, those left-of-center, the writers of this show and most others on TV, don't like cops or anyone in authority. Even in this episode, when someone mentions the FBI guy is a suspect, "Ryan Wolfe," (Jonathan Togo) is pleased. I rest my case.
The most interesting part of this episode is the beginning where Wolfe and ME "Alex Woods" (Khandi Alexander) attempt to use a fuming tent to see if they can get any fingerprints on the dead woman's body. While in the process of doing this, an electrical fire starts in the room and our two CSI people run for their lives. A meth lab, with its ammonia fumes, makes the fire burst out rapidly. They escape and are unharmed and they, along with the rest of crew, then try to backtrack and find out why this woman was killed, and by whom.
The story winds up divided between those two pursuits: find the killer and expose the corrupt FBI agent and his boss, "Glenn Cole" (Mark Ralston), who is always shown as an enemy of the series star, "Horatio Caine" (David Caruso).
Included in this episode is one of the more bizarre-looking females I've ever seen on this show: a past informant named "Jane" played by the exotic Tia Texada.
