-
Aaron Pierce : [Over the phone] Secretary Woods was asking for you: you told me you were "retiring" to the residence but upstairs detail confirm that you're not there
Olivia Taylor : Why is Tim looking for me?
Aaron Pierce : The Justice Department is investigating the Jonas Hodges car bombing, their requesting phone and internet records and wants to interview everyone as well
Olivia Taylor : I didn't realize Justice was getting involved
Aaron Pierce : Apparently, there were only eleven people knew Hodges was alive and evidence extends to that information was leaked
Olivia Taylor : Ok, I'll get there as soon as I can
Aaron Pierce : Where are you?
Olivia Taylor : I needed to run a personal errand
Aaron Pierce : [Angrily] ma'am, am I to understand you left the White House premises without Secret Service protection?
Olivia Taylor : I won't be long: ten minutes
Aaron Pierce : [Sternly] this is a serious breach of protocol your safety is my responsibility
Olivia Taylor : I know, I promise you, it won't happen again. Just cover for me until I come back?
Olivia Taylor : [after he doesn't respond] will you do that for me?
Aaron Pierce : Yes ma'am
Olivia Taylor : [Before hanging up] thank you
-
Olivia Taylor : I know your upset I went off protocol but as I told you it won't happen again
Aaron Pierce : No ma'am it won't or you'll need to find someone else to do this job
Olivia Taylor : That won't be necessary
Aaron Pierce : Ma'am you said you left the grounds to run a "personal errand", may I ask what it was?
Olivia Taylor : I just needed to get out of here: be alone, clear my head, for only a short time. Everything that's happened today, being held hostage, Jonas Hodges murder, and seeing my father so weak and vulnerable. I was feeling overwhelmed. I'm trying to live up to my mother's expectations and I didn't want "her" or anyone else for that matter to know that I was being affected by the pressure. I hope you can understand that?
Aaron Pierce : Yes ma'am, I think I can. Are you feeling alright now?
Olivia Taylor : I am actually. I guess I needed to tell someone what was going on with me. I'm glad I have someone I can trust
Aaron Pierce : Thank you ma'am
Olivia Taylor : I'll have those phone and internet records ready for the Justice Department investigator shortly
Aaron Pierce : Yes ma'am
-
Aaron Pierce : [Over the phone, calling late at night] sir, I hope I didn't wake you
Ethan Kanin : No, I'm wide awake: what can I do for you?
Aaron Pierce : Some years ago when I served under President Palmer's detail, I was made "aware" of some "modifications" made to the Chief of Staff's office
Ethan Kanin : You mean during Mike Novick's tenure?
Aaron Pierce : Yes sir. Specifically, the installation of the voice activator recording system that allows staff meetings to be logged and archived
Ethan Kanin : If you're asking whether I used the recording equipment, the answer's "yes"
Aaron Pierce : Sir, did you disconnect it when you resigned and left your office?
Ethan Kanin : No, why are you asking?
Aaron Pierce : I prefer not to answer that at "this time." I need to know how to access the digital recorder
Ethan Kanin : You can't: it's secured with a biometric lock, you need my thumb print. Look, if you want my help, you're going to have to tell me what this is about?
Ethan Kanin : [after Pierce doesn't respond] Olivia Taylor still uses my office. Does this have to do with her?
Aaron Pierce : I really can't talk about this over the phone right now
Ethan Kanin : I'll be at the White House within half hour
Aaron Pierce : [Before hanging up] thank you sir
