"Bad Dream" is a 2019 music video released approximately 1.5 months before I am writing this review and it has garnered a low six-figure amount of clicks on the world's biggest video website so far, which is not bad, but also really not that much. It was written and directed by Kimberly Aboltin and the performer (i.e. singer) here is Emma Zander despite her fairly unspectacular mention in the cast list here on imdb. I have no idea who she is honestly and I am also glad her work here (she is also a producer) also ran for 5.5 minutes because it is the epitome of really forgettable music video making honestly. No matter which perspective you take, there is no quality to fins here. The introduction is cringeworthy (despite CSI: Miami's Rex Linn, who is always a welcome inclusion), the singing is really flat and the lyrics offer nothing meaning-wise. The story is a mess too as the main character is originally a new anchor and then without explanation without logics switches locations, costumes etc. out of nowhere. Now if it would at least be a catchy number, then I could slightly forgive them, but it isn't at all. It will not get you in the groove, just like it apparently did not get anybody who is part of this video in the groove because the dancing is sub-par too, barely existent in fact. Anything positive I can say here. Well Linn I already mentioned, but apart from him (and he was also badly written), there is really nothing. The screaming behind the plastic sheet offers nothing except a failed attempt at making this maybe a bit more important, but it really just turns out pseudo-important. Kinda surprised that this is relatively high on the imdb popularity meter, well not really high obviously also with not even reaching the required five votes, but way higher than it should be because in my opinion everybody who worked on this one (especially Zander) won't have a long career unless they step things up considerably. Don't listen to the record. Don't watch the video. Highly not recommended.
