There are lots of wacky b-movies with the word "shark" in the title: Sharks in Venice; 2-Headed Shark Attack; Sand Sharks; Psycho Shark; Dino Shark... you name it, and sharks have either become it or attacked it. But this is the first time in the annals of super-chintzy Jaws knock-offs that a swarm of sharks has taken aim at (gasp) reality TV show "stars." No, this cheap and goofy SyFy Channel flick is not actually related to the Jersey Shore series, but it does take place in a very slight satire of said program, and despite a typical laundry list of obvious low-budget problems, Jersey Shore Shark Attack earns some points for self-aware goofiness, a few surprisingly funny moments, and the appearance of several lovely...

Last week I had the pleasure of talking with Actor/Director Joe Lynch. As a fellow fan of B-Movies, it was hard to stray from topics surrounding his great segment in Chillerama, the living B-Movie legend Roger Corman, and how The Blob remake basically changed and shaped his life.
While he’s currently steeped in the B-movie world with Wrong Turn 2 and Chillerama, it’ll be exciting to see how his future projects fare. Knights Of Badassdom was a Comic-Con hit and will be released in 2012, and he’ll be starring in the Fear Net television show Holliston. The most exciting and intriguing tidbit of them all though was his teaser about his upcoming project, Everly. While sounding completely different than his current body of work, somehow it sounds like it makes total sense as a career move.

Sharks are apparently all the rage right now as today we get a glimpse (via Shadow and Act) at yet another new killer shark movie called Dark Tide and this one stars Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez (Unfaithful) and was directed by Blue Crush and Into the Blue helmer John Stockwell. Add this to Shark Night 3D, Bait and not to mention all the direct-to-video shark movies that have been released lately from Sharks in Venice to Sharktopus and it's quite apparent people want to see these carnivorous fish gnawing on humans, yet none of them seem to even nibble the excellence of Steven Speilberg's Jaws.
As for Dark Tide, which I hadn't heard of until today, I wouldn't expect to see it on the big screen soon. Here is the user-posted synopsis from IMDb: Kate Mathieson (Halle Berry) is a diver who is deeply drawn to close encounters with...

I'm no copyright expert, but I can't imagine you can just go out and make a shark movie and call the main man-eater "Jaws". If I made a spy movie and called it James Bond, I'd expect a big, fat lawsuit. How then does Jaws in Japan exist? Better yet, what the hell is Jaws in Japan?
Has Jaws become the new Ernest? Will we soon see Jaws Scared Stupid or Slam-Dunk Jaws? Where did this movie even come from? IMDb.com has no listing for the film, but Amazon is offering it for pre-order -- proof that it does exist! There's no plot synopsis (though the title itself probably does the trick), and the film appears to be from Japan. Whoever made that cover is certainly gutsy enough to play fast and loose with Universal's Jaws logo.
Most likely, this is just another crappy direct-to-video CG shark movie to...

Syfy recently announced plans for upcoming movies called Dinoshark and Sharktopus. Rejoice, B-movie fans! These are destined to be classics of the awesomely awful made-for-tv movie genre. But can they join the ranks of the 10 greatest Syfy movie titles/tagline combos? Because these are pure genius, and 100 percent real: 10. Disaster Zone: Volcano in New York: "Get ready for a hot time in the big City." See also: Magma: Volcanic Disaster, NYC: Tornado Terror. 9. Dog Soldiers: "A squad of British soldiers, training in an isolated Scottish glen, find lycanthropic action under a full moon." See also: Hellhounds, Cerberus. 8. Warbirds: "Before...
