Fun and charming but jokes are pretty basic and safe

I prefer British comedians lately because I'm deathly tired of self-righteous political LA, US comedians, so I gave this a go.

This lad strikes me as an influencer type who's good at slapstick comedy and impressions but clearly not a great comedy writer.

Most jokes were of the "you know that situation, when..." followed by something safe most people can relate to, but not very funny or in-depth story-wise.

I still rate higher than I normally would for something that wasn't very funny, because he can surely get much better later on if he hires some good writers. So I don't wanna discourage. He can deliver jokes like a pro, but at least in this special they're not very good.

Not as good as expected but still good.

I've been a fan of Mo for a few years now, originally watching his short bits and characters on Instagram develop over time. Mo has always been hilarious to me as I felt all his sketches were on point and extremely relatable, and relatable to his environment. I was excited when I saw he had a Netflix special coming out as my partner and I have been trying to get tickets for his sold out shows for a minute and now was finally the time I could watch one of his shows, however we were both left feeling a bit disappointed. It was a funny show, we did have a few laughs here and there, and some points really hit home. However we both felt like the content in the stand up was watered down for Netflix and not his true comedy. It was definitely reminiscent of his sketches and even some voices etc were definitely taken from his Instagram characters, but the jokes just weren't hitting right. It basically felt like he'd used a PG version of his humour for his Netflix special so that he could appease a larger audience and maybe attract new eyes. This is definitely understandable, he's just trying to expand his fan base and create a bigger name for himself, I would just hate to see him try to fit in too much and become a washed down comedian. Can also imagine going from 60 second insta vids to a whole hour special is naturally going to be different and challenging for him, but we just want him to stay true to himself.

Mo Gilligan, Not Funnnyyy!!!

ARGH!!!!! Just painfully aweful. It's very Obvious that he doesn't have any great material, that anymore that really knows good comedy, would ever say that he has a special talent. He tells lots of stories about childhood. Grow up already Mo, you are in your 30s. I desperately hope Netflix removes him from their lineup so that I can listen to their channel without having to change the channel when he's playing. He's just bad and it's extremely annoying.

I wasn't expecting Mo to keep me laughing or smiling for an hour-straight. I've come across his segments on comedy shows and enjoyed them, but noticed he only had a a few televised shows until now. This netflix made a great impression of his range and quality.

  • Relatable jokes on UK life and family. It's a great special for the friends and family, especially on a Holiday.

  • Nostalgic, School-days and coming of age jokes.

-The Band was a great addition to his special, Mo Gilligan stays upbeat throughout the special.

  • The accent/dialect changes were fun, from Cockney, Essex to South London and indian accents

Mo is fantastic

Genuinely a brilliant comedian. Incredible to watch live too. This show was great. So many critics out there happy to slate someone who's put blood sweat and tears into mastering their craft. Mo done a fantastic job! Keep up the great work man

Terrible

Stayed with this thoroughly unfunny Brit comic for about 15 minutes. Most of the laughs were his own, laughing at his own so-called jokes. I cannot stand a comic who laughs at their own material. Maybe this guy is humorous to his British audience, but I cannot see how. Another Netflix comic fail!

Not funny.

Wanted so bad to like it, I couldn't. Seems people who like him, have been fans for a while. As a potential new fan, he bombed. Not funny. He did try to go for a certain shock factor (the ohh did he just say that), didn't work. Couldn't finish it.

This just was not funny! Just a bunch of relatable stories with a bit of humour put together. I think he should stick to his instagram sketches.

Warning: Spoilers
Same jokes made hilarious by Peter Kay, but done with a fraction of the energy. Needs to right his own material and have an energy drink. 10 minutes in and I had to watch the Bolton legend so I could hear those jokes made funny.
