Always the cop, Knight pulls over to investigate the man who just collapsed from exhaustion and pain. Knight comes to his aid asking him if he needs help offering him food and the beer he has in his vehicle. Knight realizes that there is something interesting about this man. He notices the tag around his neck and realizes that he may be his connection to finding the individuals that murdered his family. Knight plays it cool, offering him a ride. The man reluctantly identifies himself as Tyson and Knight and eventually convinces him to give him a ride to New Jersey.
Knight is able to put Tyson at ease as Tyson doesn't view Knight as a threat. Tyson seems to have been walking all night trying to escape his past. Mason defends Knight and tells Detective Johnson that Knight's tragedy came as a result of a crooked politician turning in one more hit before he went prison at the hands of Knight. She also states that she would act the same way if she was in the same position.
Tyson forces Knight to pull over as they are driving and let him continue alone as the last incident reminds him that he doesn't want to put anymore lives in danger.
