Divorced couple and former “Flip or Flop” hosts Tarek El Moussa and Christina Hall are soon to reunite in a spinoff called “The Flip Off.”
The news was announced at Warner Bros. Discovery’s 2024 upfront presentation, during which the company gave several updates regarding its lifetyle brands, including that John Cena will host Discovery Channel’s annual Shark Week.
“Flip or Flop” ended in 2022 after 10 seasons on HGTV due to ongoing difficulties from the 2017 divorce but “The Flip Off,” launching in early 2025, will feature the exes and their new spouses in a competition to find, buy, renovate and flip a house for the biggest financial gain.
The Cena-hosted Shark Week will include Part 2 of “Belly of the Beast,” which gives a real look at a great white shark feeding frenzy. Other programs airing during the celebration include “Monster Hammerhead: Species X” about a potential new hammerhead species and “Great White Serial Killer: Sea of Blood,...

Warner Bros. Discovery’s fourth-quarter success largely depends on strong performance at Food Network, as the cable channel draws its highest number of eyeballs — and ad dollars — when the holidays roll around. But in 2023, the network had additional tasks to check off for the company, including driving viewers to Max and pushing them to the theater for titles including Warner Bros. Timothée Chalamet-led “Wonka.”
With a “huge” turnout of 34 million viewers across 52.5 hours of holiday-themed programming, Food Network chief Betsy Ayala told Variety‘s “Strictly Business” podcast she’s proud of the results, which were driven by seasonal favorites including “Holiday Baking Championship,” “Holiday Wars” and “Beat Bobby Flay: Holiday Throwdown,” as well as new competition series “Elf on the Shelf: Sweet Showdown.”
U.S. Networks chief marketing officer Karen Bronzo touted the wider implications of Food Network’s success within Wbd. “The holiday really punctuates this for me...

Exclusive: BBQ Brawl has been picked up for a fifth season by Food Network.
The series’ fourth season saw over 16 million total viewers across Food Network/Max/Discovery+ and posting a series best rating across men 25-54 (up 10% vs. prior season). The September 4th finale, during which Chicago’s Dominique Leach was named Master of ‘Cue, earned the show’s highest rating of the season –.82 among women 18+.
Over the 10-episode season which premiered July 10th, chefs Bobby Flay, Anne Burrell and Sunny Anderson each led a team of top-tier pit masters from across the country in high-stakes challenges to determine who will be named Master of ‘Cue.
“BBQ Brawl had a raucous and action-packed season and I’m thrilled that Chef Dominique got to raise the trophy,” said Flay. “Inviting Sunny Anderson to the BBQ party proved to be a great addition. Rest assured, next year we’ll be throwing in even more surprises.

Traditionally a strong performer in the fall and holiday TV season, Food Network is sizzling this summer, too.
From Memorial Day on May 27 through July 20, Food Network content has drawn more than 50.6 million total viewers across the linear TV channel, as well as Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streamers Max and Discovery+.
The boost in viewership coincides with the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood, work stoppages that affect scripted programming, which is not Food Network’s bread and butter.
Looking at linear alone, Food Network is among the Top 5 non-news/sports cable networks across total day ratings for adults aged 25-54 and women ages 25-54, behind Nick at Nite, TNT, USA Network and TBS.
Per Nielsen’s Live + 3 Day data, Food Network is currently averaging 113,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo. Additionally, Food Network has seen average weekly time spent viewing during primetime rise 4% year over year among the...
