His blind niece, Petranilla, curses everyone involved. 150 years pass, and Angelina Feliz, a direct descendant of the Don, along with her boyfriend, Derek, discover an old map in a family heirloom music box. The map shows the location of a treasure on the estate, but guarding the hidden fortune is a huge netherworld creature, a terrifying Barghest.
Poker Run director Julian Higgins directs this monster movie he co-wrote with his father, Bertie Higgins, who also co-stars in the film. Daniel Bonjour (Midnight Movie), Luis Fernandez-Gil, and Joel Bryant star in this “based...

Devil Riders
Stars: Robert Thorne, Jasmine Waltz, Bertie Higgins, J.D. Rudometkin, Debra Hopkins, Jay Wisell, Ryan Caldwell | Written by Bertie Higgins, Julian Higgins, Larry Madill | Directed by Julian Higgins
Originally released in the Us in 2009 under the less sensationalist title of Poker Run, Devil Riders is the latest in a long line of films featuring ordinary members of the public put into extraordinary situations by more “nefarious” members of society – with definite shades of The Hills Have Eyes, Race With the Devil and even (at a stretch) Cape Fear, this is a case of survival horror flick meets Easy Rider.
Devil Riders follows Robert and Allen, two suburbanites who, tired of the everyday rat race, decide it would be cool to buy motorbikes and hit the open road with their wives on a “poker run” on Route 66, Making the mistake of looking for a cheap deal the duo buy...

A new month; a new batch of DVDs and Blu-rays to consider. We've used the phrase "mixed bag" a few times before this year, but never has it been more apropos than with regard to those discs that are being released on December 1st, 2009!
A new Evil Dead is on its way -- not that anyone can figure out why. Gremlins is hitting Blu-ray as is the new Terminator flick. And the Brittany Murphy-starrer Deadline, which is better than it has any business being, drops along with a few other indies like Deader Country, Poker Run, and Sins of the Father.
Little Red Devil with Daniel Baldwin and Dee Wallace definitely sounds intriguing, but for my money, the hand's down pick of the week is 1972's Knife of Ice, a rare Italian giallo from Umberto Lenzi starring the gorgeous and glamorous Carroll Baker.
