New Delhi, March 6 (Ians) Last year, the imposition of lockdown put a pause on the release of film music, pushing people towards the independent/non-film music, which in the pre-Covid times was, arguably, the secondary source of listening to music for most Indians.
A year later the scene has changed. Music channels, the streaming space as well as social media is overflowing with non-Bollywood music. Artistes would tell you they need to continue making music. The music labels affirm there is always an audience for art and entertainment, never mind lockdown. Both ways, artistes confined to their homes got busy creating music on laptops. The outcome was a sizeable repertoire of original sound.
"I think an artiste never stops making art if it is truly what they live for. I think constantly creating new music is like second nature for me and even if nobody hears it,...

Mumbai, Nov 9 (Ians) Actor Vikrant Massey, who shared screen space with Deepika Padukone in Chhapaak earlier this year, says is tough to be a female superstar like her in this country.
"It is hard to be a Deepika Padukone in our country. It is difficult to be a woman with a voice. She is the biggest star and an icon in our country. If she can be subjugated to this, then anyone could. Unfortunately, there is no public discourse today. I stand by what I said," said Vikrant.
Deepika was in the midst of controversy around the release of Chhapaak in the month of January after she visited Jawaharlal Nehru University (Jnu) in Delhi in a bid to show solidarity with the protest against CAA. Her action infuriated many on social media, and the hashtags BoycottChhapaak and BlockDeepika had started trending back then.
Vikrant recalls working with Deepika and Chhapaak director Meghna Gulzar with fondness.

Ginny, Sunny and their not so funny misadventure of love sets you wondering within 10 minutes of the start: Why was this film made in the first case? The question plays in your mind on the loop all through the runtime that follows. By the end of it, you realise this was a couple of hours ill-spent.

It's all very formula-bound and, like the tired remix of a past-expiry-date Mika song in the film, absolutely unnecessary.
Billed as rom-com with very little ‘rom' and almost no ‘com', Puneet Khanna's debut directorial effort runs low on entertainment quotient right from the start, doing gross disservice to a cast that impressively manages to rise above the unimaginative writing. You feel bad for Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey, as well as the half dozen-odd prop actors who eagerly try living...

Netflix was ahead of the game for October, releasing its “Netflix and Chills” horror lineup in anticipation of the Halloween season. Now the streaming giant has unveiled its full lineup for October, and believe it or not: horror remains at the forefront of its strategy.
The biggest release this month is undoubtedly The Haunting of Bly Manor, Mike Flanagan’s long-awaited followup to terrifying Haunting of Hill House. That arrives on Oct. 9. The film side of things is where most of Netflix’s other horror originals reside, with Hubie Halloween (Oct. 7), A Babysitters’ Guide to Monster Hunting (Oct. 15), and Rebecca (Oct. 22) all making their debut.
Some non-horror originals of note this month include high school drama Grand Army (Oct. 16) and the Anya-Taylor Joy-starring chess story The Queen’s Gambit (Oct. 26). Aaron Sorkin’s latest film, The Trial of the Chicago 7, arrives on Oct. 16.

The full list of everything that’s coming to Netflix in October has been released today and as we’re facing the prospect of a Halloween spent at home, the streaming site is making sure that we’ve got more than enough spooky content to keep us occupied. In fact, there’s a huge amount of new movies and TV shows arriving on the service next month as part of the “Netflix and Chills” season.
October 1st also delivers a lot of great newly licensed content, too, which you won’t want to miss. Sticking with the Halloween theme, though, the haul features a few horrors/thrillers including Cape Fear, House of 1000 Corpses and You Have Always Lived in the Castle. Then, on the 2nd, new original movie Vampires vs. the Bronx lands. And skipping ahead to the 7th, be sure to catch Adam Sandler’s latest comedy, Hubie Halloween.

As the anticipation of Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey-starrer, Ginny Weds Sunny heightens, its music partner, Sony Music India drops the first song from its music album. The record label releases ‘Lol’, a fun song composed by Payal Dev, written by Kunaal Vermaa and sung by Payal Dev and Dev Negi.
Planted into the romantic comedy, the song, as the title suggests, is a fun track that is laced with humour and contemporary elements. Music composer Payal Dev created the song keeping in mind the genre of the film and the situation (in the narrative) at which the song erupts.
Sanujeet Bhujabal, Senior Director – Marketing, Sony Music India says, “Ginny Weds Sunny is a feel-good film and music is an integral part of the narrative. By releasing Lol from its music album first, we wanted to set the tone straight and let the listeners and viewers know what they could expect from it.
