A history of submission

Warning: Spoilers
"Mia" is a Spanish live action short film from 2017, so still relatively current, and this one is the first effort as writer, director and actor for Oriol Colomar, who usually works as cinematographer. But even if he is the man in charge here, actually also in the film itself story-wise, this never feels anybody else's film but Aya Wolf's. She is not just the one who plays the title character, but also a co-writer of these slightly under 11 minutes. This is the story of a young woman who is in a sexually submissive relationship with her boyfriend. There is no major SM going on, at least none we find out about, but minor acts of violence do exist. Or maybe they wanted to keep it somewhat audience-friendly at least as even without such scenes the movie is partially already at the point where it moves into the adult film category. On Youtube, this is called a documentary, not here on imdb, and also we have the lead actresses credited with her first real name, in addition to her alias, after whcih the film is named, so it is probably somewhere in-between documentary and fiction and how exactly the proportions are is probably something only Aya (and Oriol) can tell you precisely. I already mentioned the slightly adult nature of this film, so I guess it probably helps in terms of how much you appreciate it if you are a heterosexual male, especially because Wolf is really gorgeous. There is nudity, at least above the waist, but therefore a lot indeed and the final shot where we see how liquids leave one person's body and meet the other (that's the only way to say it I suppose, so that imdb will allow my review) is also relatively graphic. I did like honestly that at the end there was a brief elaboration on how consent is always crucial in this scenario. What happens in detail has to be wanted by both. And it is almostg comedic when we see them two or three times function normally as a couple like when there is brief talk about who makes dinner. Also at the end, there is a brief mention of one character being (implied sexually) abused at the age of 4. Now I don't know if that really happened or if it was just added for dramatic purpose, but I don't really like the idea of this being invented for mere shock purpose. Another reviewer made a connection with "50 Shades of Grey" here. Interesting one. This surely can be discussed and also what I wrote before that cen be discussed, namely what may have happened to her as a child and to what extent this has an impact even today 20 years later or so on her sexual preferences. But maybe, it's better to be discussed by psychologists than by everybody who sees this movie. I give it a thumbs-up overall. Good effort for a rookie filmmaker, or maybe two I should say. Some pretty nice camera shots and angles as well. Go watch and unless you are fluent in Spanish, watch with subtitles of course. Her monologue is really well-enough written that you want to understand everything of it. Thumbs up.

Milestones better than Fifty Shades of Grey

Not that I've watched the films or read the books but I did skim through and also read reviews. That's all I gotta say. Lovely documentary. Would be dope if it was a feature film.

Best so far I loved it

I guess Mia served as the hurricane of lust and love both surest ways and Mia is a beautiful story to watch.

I love the movie and how submissive she was.

If there's anything to consider on Mia is how much she shows her power as submissive lady and To this out there feeling that being submissive is crime it show how caring and possessive of incredibly passionate women one can be. I guess her character possessed so much aura and energy that makes an person see how give one soul and trusting the person to hear ur soul is not an easy thing to do but it so much worth to give much to ur partner and enjoy ur self love.
