Susan Atkins' alias as "Sexy Sadie", bestowed upon her by Charles Manson, is presumed to be taken from The Beatles' song of the same name from the band's self-titled 1968 double album (also known as "The White Album"). The song "Sexy Sadie" is actually a reference to spiritualist leader Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of a the Transcendental Meditation technique who, at one point, was considered the Beatles' spiritual advisor. However, John Lennon wrote the song denouncing Maharishi after he allegedly made a sexual advance on actress Mia Farrow.
When exiting the Tate house at the scene of the crime (not when entering), one of the LAPD patrolmen accidentally pressed the gate button with his bare hands, thereby obliterating the print. Unlike the depiction in the movie, the button was covered in blood and bore one of the killers' fingerprints. The real-life police officer later stated that he was so disturbed by the carnage that he wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, which is why he pressed the button without thinking.
