The Boys is expected to have many of its core characters return for the series’ fourth season. But how many newcomers will the series add to its roster of Supes and bad guys?
The new Supes joining ‘The Boys’ cast Antony Star, Karl Urban, and Cameron Crovetti in ‘The Boys’ | Amazon Prime
Much of The Boys season 4 is still being kept under wraps. But a few details have come out about the series’ next chapter that have only intensified the hype. According to Variety, it was announced last year that Valorie Curry and Susan Hayward would be added to the cast. The two will be playing Supes Firecracker and Sister Sage respectfully, and according to the showrunner, they’ll fit right in with The Boys’ chaotic universe.
“These new Supes are some of the best & craziest ever written for The Boys,” showrunner Eric Kripke once said according to Games Radar.

What’s NBC nowadays?
Even before the ongoing writers strike scrambled the network’s fall schedule, its identity — historically quite strong as a place for chewy, grown-up dramas and chic, cerebral sitcoms — had seemed hazy. Promising comedies, the sort that might have grown to fulfill the role recently played by “30 Rock” or “Superstore,” got unceremoniously booted from the air after barely a chance to thrive; new dramas, from “Ordinary Joe” to “The Thing About Pam,” seemed painfully undistinguished.
It’s been a tough few years. And as much as the departure of Susan Rovner, chairman of entertainment content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, a career TV executive previously known for her work at Warner Bros. Television, is just latest bit of media industry consolidation, it’s also a moment to observe that the legacy network and its corporate siblings have struggled to find a way forward. In the years...

If Comcast is serious about its streaming ambitions, it must weigh its two most likely expansion plans: Buying out Disney’s ownership stake in Hulu or an M&a with a competitor.
In its first-quarter earnings, Comcast showed impressive growth in Peacock subscribers to 22 million. But while revenue was up 45%, Peacock’s losses were mounting ($704 million vs. $456 million a year ago), the NBCUniversal parent reported Thursday.
Questions remain about Comcast’s endgame with both Peacock and NBCUniversal as a whole. Can a major SVOD succeed with demand mostly driven by library titles like Peacock? How much more money is Comcast CEO Brian Roberts willing to part with before Peacock turns a profit? The streamer is set to lose $3 billion in 2023, after a $2.5 billion loss in 2022.

Rami Malek is circling his next lead role in the thriller "Amateur" from 20th Century Studios. Deadline reports that James Hawes — who directed all six episodes of the first season of "Slow Horses," the Gary Oldman-led Apple TV+ series — has also boarded the project. Right now, it's still in the development stages, with Malek in line to executive produce alongside Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson.
The plot of "Amateur" reportedly "follows a CIA cryptographer who, after his wife is tragically killed in a London terrorist attack, demands his bosses go after them." The CIA isn't having any of that, and "when it becomes clear they won't act due to conflicting internal priorities," the cryptographer takes matters into his own hands and "blackmails the agency into training him."

Exclusive: NBC has commissioned writers rooms for two hourlong projects, Grosse Pointe Garden Society, from Good Girls creator Jenna Bans and her frequent collaborator, former Good Girls executive producer Bill Krebs, as well as The Hunting Party, a high-concept crime procedural from JJ Bailey and The Endgame co-creator Jake Coburn. Universal Television, where Bans, Krebs and Bailey are under overall deals and Coburn has a first-look deal, is the studio on both.
Grosse Pointe Garden Society, which had a put pilot commitment, was one of two sales at NBC this development season for Bans and Krebs through Universal TV. Their other script, Murder By the Book, with Good Girls‘ Retta attached to star, was picked up to pilot. It also originally had a put pilot commitment.
NBC has split its drama slate between the two models, with two pilots, Murder By the Book and Wolf, and two writers rooms for a straight-to-series consideration.

Will Forte Says 'Chances Are Slim' For MacGruber Season 2, But Will 'Never Count It Out' [Exclusive]
MacGruber has survived a lot since the character first debuted on "Saturday Night Live" in 2007. The "MacGyver"-like antihero has been blown to bits by exploding bombs countless times, distracted by everything from his grandma-turned-fiance (Betty White) to wild Covid-era conspiracy theories. He lost his wife (Maya Rudolph) seconds after they got married, got out of some tricky situations with the help of a creatively-placed stalk of celery, and faced down villains played by Val Kilmer and Billy Zane, among others.
But it's unclear at this point if MacGruber will survive his greatest foe yet: the increasingly crowded streaming era. /Film's Ethan Anderton interviewed "MacGruber" co-creator and star Will Forte ahead of his role in the Sundance film "Aliens Abducted My Parents and Now I Feel Kinda Left Out." During the conversation, the comedian revealed that the show's fate doesn't look super-promising, but also notes that MacGruber has beat the odds before.

Amazon’s The Boys has been a big sensation for the streaming service. With characters like Homelander making headlines for intentional and unintentional reasons, the superhero satire is a swift kick in the butt for a normally vanilla genre of content. The streaming giant is keeping plot details for the next season under wraps. However, they’ve recently released a sneak peek that should whet your whistle.
Entertainment Weekly has unveiled Amazon’s tease of season 4’s new characters. The girls who will be added to The Boys will be Susan Heyward, from OWN’s Delilah, who will be playing a supe named Sister Sage, and Valerie Curry, from Peacock’s The Lost Symbol, who will be strapping up boots as Firecracker. Amazon is not yet revealing much about the roles these characters will play in the show as they seem to currently be playing this close to the chest.

The Vought International roster keeps expanding the realm of “The Boys.”
A first look at Season 4 introduces two new supes, Firecracker (Valorie Curry) and Sister Sage (Susan Heyward). While the details of their roles are still kept under wraps, their patriotic costumes give some slight hints as to their superpowers, thanks to costume designer Laura Jean Shannon. The Sister Sage moniker has already caused fans to speculate the character has a connection to the Sage Grove Center psychiatric institute shown in Season 2.
Season 4 of the Prime Video series is currently in production. Heyward previously starred in “Orange Is the New Black,” and leads the AppleTV+ series “Hello Tomorrow.” Curry stars in Peacock’s “The Lost Symbol” based on the Dan Brown novel.
In addition, Heyward and Curry, “Walking Dead” alum Jeffrey Dean Morgan is confirmed to be starring in a mystery role for Season 4. “The Boys” college spin-off “Gen V” is also in the works.

Vought International has two new hires to boast about: Supes Firecracker and Sister Sage made their epic debut Monday in two first-look photos from “The Boys” Season 4 revealed by Amazon’s Prime Video.
In the photos, which you can view at the bottom of this post, you’ll see Susan Heyward suit up as Sister Sage and Valorie Curry rocking her Firecracker costume.
Both of the supersuits were designed by Laura Jean Shannon, “The Boys” costume designer who styled Jensen Ackles’ fan-favorite Soldier Boy look for Season 3.
Fans will want to pick the details of these costumes apart as much as possible, because Amazon says that everything else about the Firecracker and Sister Sage characters “will be kept under wraps until the season airs.” While we don’t know when that will be just yet, we do know “The Boys” Season 4 is currently in production in Toronto — so stay tuned.

Peacock’s Last Light is a consistently inert environmental thriller that fails to deliver even the most minor thrills. But in reaching its bizarrely anticlimactic conclusion in only five episodes, none more than 44 minutes, it’s far too brisk to be mad at.
Peacock is hoping that Last Light might get some attention for Matthew Fox’s return to TV, but with less watchable goofiness than The Lost Symbol, the streamer’s short-lived Dan Brown adaptation — another cheap-looking international thriller with allegedly literary trappings — I’m pretty confident this will be another no-impact fizzle.

Photo: 'Prey' Director Dan Trachtenberg takes a new challenge of making 'Prey', the latest prequel and the fifth installment of the ‘Predator’ series. What makes the new Predator film fascinating is how it deals with the creature’s encounter with the Comanche nation 300 years ago. Not only will it fascinate Predator fans, but it will also intrigue historians and make them wonder why the filmmakers decided to make the newest Predator film a period science fiction/action film. Before this movie, Dan Trachtenberg made his directorial debut by making ‘10 Cloverfield Lane,’ the second film of the ‘Cloverfield’ franchise. He also worked on directing an episode on each of the shows: ‘Black Mirror,’ ‘The Boys,’ and a pilot of ‘The Lost Symbol.’ Since he contributed to making the second ‘Cloverfield’ movie a success, he is also trusted to install the newest ‘Predator’ film. [Warning: The below contains spoilers for “The Boys” Season 3 finale.]
We’ll be getting to know the next generation of “The Boys” supes sooner than we think.
With spinoff series “Gen V” in the works and centered on a college for Vought International superheroes, it’s time for the spawn of Homelander (Antony Starr) to take center stage. Enter: sweet, innocent Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) turning to the dark side. Actor Crovetti has been promoted to a series regular, with the Amazon Prime Video series “The Boys” confirming two new tween supes for Season 4.
Valorie Curry (“The Lost Symbol”) is set to play Firecracker, with Susan Heyward (“Orange Is the New Black”) portraying Sister Sage, seemingly in reference to the Sage Grove Center psychiatric institute shown in Season 2.
But where does this leave Ryan in the mix? Well, since his grandpa is most likely Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and his dad Homelander is evil incarnate, seems like...

“The Boys” is going to see some more Supe competition in Season 4, with the addition of new series regulars Valorie Curry and Susan Heyward. Recurring star Cameron Crovetti, who plays Ryan, Homelander’s (Antony Starr) impressionable son, has been upped to series regular, Prime Video announced Monday.
Curry, known for Peacock’s “The Lost Symbol,” will be portraying Firecracker, while Heyward (“Orange is the New Black”) will be playing Sister Sage. No further details were available about their characters.
At the end of Season 3, Ryan chooses to go with his deranged Supe father instead of Butcher (Karl Urban), setting him down a path that is certain to lead to increased violence and chaos. In the final chilling shots of the finale, Ryan is shown vacantly smiling in response to Homelander’s brutal murder of a protester who had accidentally hit his son with a projectile.

“The Boys” are getting two new Supes in Season 4 with Valorie Curry and Susan Hayward joining the cast. Cameron Crovetti, who plays Homelander’s son Ryan, has also been promoted to a series regular for the upcoming season.
Curry (“The Lost Symbol”) will be portraying the superhero Firecracker, and Heyward (“Delilah”) will portray Sister Sage. Neither of the characters are from “The Boys” comics, so nothing is known about the characters thus far. However, knowing “The Boys” and showrunner/head writer Eric Kripke, the duo is sure to be at the heart of some diabolical and violent schemes.
Crovetti’s character of Ryan has been becoming increasingly important in “The Boys,” with Antony Starr’s terrifying sociopathic Homelander becoming ever-attached to the boy. TV academy voters are faced with a daunting task when they fill out their 2022 Emmy Awards nominations ballot in that they have to consider 171 shows for Best Drama Series. This is up by 38 from last year. As has been the case since 2017, members do not have to winnow their choices down to a set amount and are instead being told to “vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”
Last year’s champ, “The Crown,” will not return to seek another victory, as no new episodes of the Netflix series have aired since its fourth season finale in November 2020. Of its seven 2021 rivals, three – “The Boys,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and “The Mandalorian” – also did not return in time to meet the eligibility window of June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022. Another two – “Lovecraft Country” and “Pose” – ended their runs in October 2020 and June 2021, respectively.

Tom Hanks has cracked “The Da Vinci Code”…and dubbed it “hooey.”
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Oscar winner Hanks called the Ron Howard-helmed trilogy “as cynical as a crossword puzzle” and an outrageous adventure story ripe for the box office. The franchise kicked off in 2006 before spurring two sequels, “Angels & Demons” and “Inferno.”
“God, that was a commercial enterprise,” Hanks said. “Yeah, those Robert Langdon sequels are hooey. ‘The Da Vinci Code’ was hooey.”
Hanks continued, “I mean, [author] Dan Brown, God bless him, says, ‘Here is a sculpture in a place in Paris! No, it’s way over there. See how a cross is formed on a map? Well, it’s sort of a cross.’ Those are delightful scavenger hunts that are about as accurate to history as the James Bond movies are to espionage…All we were doing is promising a diversion.

This Evil review contains spoilers.
Evil Season 3 Episode 1
Evil’s season 3 opener, “The Demon of Death,” faces the same problem which hung over the second season: a cliff-hanging, game-changing event occurs, and the characters have to deal with the consequences. Last season started in the aftermath of a killing; this one picks up the pieces of broken vows. Or were they?
Dr. Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers), who is married, confessed she got away with murder to the newly ordained priest, Father David Acosta (Mike Colter). This should have ended the will-they-won’t-they argument raging under the two characters. Evil season 3 has it both ways. The first scene continues where the finale left off, and gives into temptation. It is a powerful opening, sexually charged and regretful, yet always maintaining an ambiance of ominous mystery. Colter and Herbers get truly lost in the moments, both the longing and the lingering doubts...

It would have continued Langdon's adventures on the big screen, but the studio behind the movies, Sony, opted to go for "Inferno" as the third one instead.
