  Lena Luthor : Yeah, I know. My head's kind of spinning. When you were Reign, and I made kryptonite to stop you... y-you know, in response well, Supergirl was so horrible. And then Kara was the same. She was so kind and supportive. But it made me think, which was the real Kara? And if the real Kara thought I was a villain... then maybe that's all I really am.

  Kara Danvers : [watching with Mxy]  No, Lena, no. How could you ever think that?

  Supergirl : [seeing the Worldkillers' solar eclipse begin]  Oh, no.

• Lena Luthor : To be honest, I didn't have much faith in politicians to begin with. I just don't think any of them can be trusted.

  [Kara looks around, realizing she's in her memory] 

  Lena Luthor : Don't look so scandalized, Kara. You know how cynical I can be.

  Kara Danvers : You shouldn't have to be so cynical. You're good and righteous, and... and the tragedy is, the world has made you cynical because you've been betrayed so many times. By your mother, by your brother... and now, by me.

  Kara Danvers : [moving to sit next to her]  I'm not who you think I am. I'm Supergirl.

  [taking off her glasses] 

  Kara Danvers : I never meant to deceive you. I just didn't know how to tell you.

  [she speeds away; after a brief fight, she returns]

  [seeing who Lena is with]

  Mxyzptlk : Your best friend thinks that she is your enemy. And the worst part... it's your fault. You hid the truth from her. You let her find out from that sadist, Lex, and now, you think, she could be capable of anything.

  Kara Danvers : What's your point?

  Mxyzptlk : My point, toots, is this.

  Kara Danvers : [he walks across the furniture]  Careful.

  Mxyzptlk : I am offering you a do-over. Hmm? I can send you back in time. Wouldn't you like to be able to tell Lena that you're Supergirl on your own terms? Wouldn't you like to see... what the world would look like if you controlled the narrative?

• Kara Danvers : This was right before Lena and I really became friends. See, she's about to say...

• J'onn J'onzz : When Lena first came to National City, to take over at L-Corp, Lex tried to have her assassinated. He failed, but she was seriously injured in the attack.

  Alex Danvers : And she disappeared for two years. When she came back, everybody said that she was... different, that she had changed.

  Kelly Olsen : The trauma, the loneliness... it drove her mad.

  Winn Schott : She retaliated against Lex, killed him. Took half of National City along with her. Now she rules what's left with an iron fist. Reign is her enforcer.

  Dreamer : And Brainy, too. She captured him. Aligned him. Now he has no emotions, and does whatever Lena tells him to.

  Mxyzptlk : This is all exposition, so much exposition.

• Kara Danvers : [watching a memory with Lena]  Ugh. This is awful! I'm awful!

  [she looks at him indignantly] 

  Mxyzptlk : I was just agreeing with you. I would never say that.

• Kara Danvers : My dual identities made Lena think that she couldn't trust either side of me. I was a hypocrite.

  Mxyzptlk : Okay, so, when exactly did this kryptonite-fueled tete-a-tete happen?

  Kara Danvers : Ah... it was... it was, uh, just after we found out that Lena was housing Reign.

  Supergirl : [on the tape]  Lena, the Worldkillers are coming. We have to get you someplace...

  Kara Danvers : Mmm, skip forward.

  Mxyzptlk : Skip.

  [he fast-forwards through various scenes] 

  Kara Danvers : See, there? This fight...

  Mxyzptlk : Mm-hmm.

  Kara Danvers : ...is what I'm trying to avoid.

  Mxyzptlk : Okay.

  Kara Danvers : So, go back.

  [he rewinds, and she watches herself asking James to investigate Lena's kryptonite stock] 

  Kara Danvers : Ah, I never should have done that. Um... yeah, it has to be before this.

  Mxyzptlk : Yeah, hang on, before.

  Kara Danvers : We have to go back further. Here!

  Mxyzptlk : Yep.

  Lena Luthor : My friend came to me. She was alone and afraid. I had to do something.

  Supergirl : I need you to level with me. Do you have any more kryptonite?

  Kara Danvers : This is it. This is the moment that Lena started to distrust Supergirl. This is when I have to tell her.

• Kara Danvers : I forgot.

  Mxyzptlk : Yeah.

  Kara Danvers : The Worldkillers started an eclipse that day.

  Mxyzptlk : Mm-hmm. So, you forgot the... forgot the eclipse, and then you also forgot the kryptonite bomb. You know what we're not gonna do? We're not gonna rely on your memory anymore for maybe, like, big, important details.

  [she scoffs indignantly] 

  Mxyzptlk : Just saying. We got to try something else.

• Kara Danvers : All right, so, how does this work?

  Mxyzptlk : I will show you relevant parts of your life. You'll tell me when to pause, I will snap...

  [pantomiming in demonstration] 

  Mxyzptlk : ...like thus, sending you back. You will change history. Once you have confronted Lena, you will come back, we will watch from your loft and the safety of your couch. If you are comfortable with the domino effect...

  [he claps, and an old-school film projector appears] 

  Mxyzptlk : ...I will then snap again, at which point it will become reality.

• Kara Danvers : Oh, okay.

  Kara Danvers : Let's go to before Mercy attacks.

  Kara Danvers : Mm-hmm.

• J'onn J'onzz : You're not seriously thinking of doing this, are you?

  Kara Danvers : What if I *could* change things? If I told Lena that I was Supergirl before Lex, maybe she would have reacted differently. I mean, isn't that worth a try?

  Alex Danvers : Changing history to save a friendship? Kara, I don't... I don't know.

  Kara Danvers : This is changing history to *save* history, 'cause Lex and Lena are planning something horrible, and we are no closer to finding out what that is. And when the fight comes... I don't know if I have what it takes to stop her.

• Kara Danvers : Tell me who you are and what you want, now.

  [Mxy snaps his fingers, and on her TV, she sees the memory of their first encounter] 

  Mxyzptlk : I'm your one true love, your soul mate, your one true pairing, as the kids say. My name is Mxyzptlk, and I love you Kara, Zor-El.

  Kara Danvers : Okay. If you...

  [gasping as she sees him sitting Indian-style on her kitchen island] 

  Alex Danvers : Oh, come on.

• J'onn J'onzz : Kara, are you sure you can trust Mxy?

  Kara Danvers : No. But the tape recorder worked. I... I could always just use it to get him to go away.

  Alex Danvers : All right, listen to me. If you really think that this is your best chance to set things right with Lena before she hurts somebody... then do it.

  Kara Danvers : Okay. Uh... how do I do this? Um...

  Mxyzptlk : [materializing in and climbing out of her fridge]  Thank Zook you changed your mind. Yes, I'm still working on eavesdropping. That's a problem.

• Lena Luthor : You don't know the first thing about pain. But I do. I can show you, make you feel what I feel.

  Supergirl : I won't fight you, Lena.

  Lena Luthor : Then you'll die screaming.

• Kara Danvers : Holy cow. That was the most emotionally draining experience of my life, and let me tell you, I've had some doozies.

• Supergirl : I finally told Lena I'm Supergirl.

  Mon-El : Wow. How, uh... how did she take it?

  Supergirl : Not well. And I don't blame her. I mean, I'm supposed to be her best friend, and I... I lied and betrayed her just like everyone else in her life has. So, what do I do?

  Mon-El : You know, Lena and I have a lot in common. We've both been betrayed by our own families. And when the people who are supposed to love you the most let you down, it just makes you feel so... so vulnerable, you know?

• Kara Danvers : I've always been so afraid to reveal my identity to the world, but look, it saved Lena. Maybe... just maybe, this... this is the timeline to stick with. Let's...

• Supergirl : [entering a dystopian reality]  What happened? Where are we?

  Mxyzptlk : Where your loft used to be.

  Supergirl : [picking up a charred, framed picture]  You know what? No, thanks. Nope. I don't need to see it.

  Mxyzptlk : Yeah.

  Supergirl : Can you just snap us out of here?

  Mxyzptlk : Yep. With pleasure.

  [as he snaps, nothing happens] 

  Supergirl : [he continues trying]  What's happening?

  Mxyzptlk : I can't feel the Fifth Dimension at all. Without my powers...

  Supergirl : We're stuck here?

• Supergirl : This world sucks!

  Dreamer : [destroying a Lexosuit with her powers]  You don't know the half of it.

• Patricia Arias : Sam, no, this isn't you! I know you're in there. I know you are!

  Supergirl : [Reign grabs Patricia]  No.

  Reign : You really thought you could stop me, Supergirl? You can't even protect this one pathetic human.

  Patricia Arias : Oh, Sam...

  Lena Luthor : [zapping her in the back]  But I can. Because this is the tool I use to bring Reign out and bury you down. Okay, come back to us, Sam.

  Reign : [labored breathing]  I will kill... you all!

• Lena Luthor : Why are you trusting me with such a big secret? You barely know me.

  Kara Danvers : Because I know that what you want more than anything is to do good. And I know it's hard for you to trust people, but I need you to know now, without a doubt, I trust you. My cousin, your brother, they got it wrong. Imagine what we could do together. A Luthor and a Super, working together as a team.

  Lena Luthor : If we were partners, we could change the world.

• Supergirl : You did it! You saved Sam.

  Lena Luthor : Yeah, and I did it without kryptonite.

  Supergirl : [catching Lena as she's hit in the back by a heat vision beam]  No!

  Reign : Fool! I am a Worldkiller. And I cannot be stopped!

• Supergirl : Mxy, they're all dead. Please get me out of here.

• Dreamer : Look who I found.

  Alex Danvers : [hugging]  Oh, Kara, thank god you're here.

  J'onn J'onzz : Who's this?

  Supergirl : Oh, this is my friend, Mxyzptlk.

  Mon-El : Mxyzptlk?

  Supergirl : Yeah.

  Mon-El : What, you thought with a new face, we wouldn't recognize the same old you? This is the guy who tried to make Kara marry him.

  Supergirl : It's fine, Mon-El. Because he is reformed... and he's actually helping me.

  Mxyzptlk : Uh, no... you know what? No, Mon-El is right. Okay? It was despicable of me to pursue a woman who so clearly was not interested in me from the get-go. I misread the room, and I'm gonna be better. It's tough to be an imp. And I'm gonna try for the rest of my days. So, maybe we can let the past be the past, huh?

• News Anchor #2 : Powerful testimonies in the trial of Lillian Luthor today. But will they be undercut by Lena Luthor's refusal to give up Supergirl's identity?

  Thomas Coville : For I once thought that true power was the Kryptonian walking amongst us, but that power is nothing compared to the might of a Kryptonian paired with a Luthor!

  Kara Danvers : [watching with Mxy]  This is incredible. The last time Lillian was on trial, the whole world suspected Lena of working with her, but having Supergirl as a partner... it gives Lena the credibility her last name never could.

• Kara Danvers : Lena was never angry about hypocrisy. She was angry because I never shared my identity with her in the first place.

  Mxyzptlk : Uh-huh.

  Kara Danvers : So, you know what that means? We have to go back to the very beginning.

  Kara Danvers : Um, let me think

  Lena Luthor : [on the phone on the TV]  Oh, of course, I'm more than happy to donate. Okay.

  Ben Lockwood : [approaching as she hangs up]  Ms. Luthor.

  Kara Danvers : Oh, no. Is that Lockwood?

• Supergirl : Okay, we can still fix this.

  Mxyzptlk : I need my powers.

  Mon-El : That must be because Lena tapped into the Fifth Dimensional energy to use it to power her police robots.

  Winn Schott : I worked at L-Corp for about two years before Lena found me out. Uh, we caught a criminal. He didn't have a name, but he had a hat that he could pull anything out of.

  Mxyzptlk : Old drinking buddy of mine. I lost that hat to him in a poker game. That hat contains a lot of Fifth Dimensional magic.

  Supergirl : So, if we get you the hat...

  Mxyzptlk : Get me the hat, I can make all of this go...

  [as the electricity crackles, everyone is knocked backwards by Reign crashing through a window] 

  Reign : Surrender the imp or die!

• Supergirl : Lena? It's me. It's Supergirl. It's Kara.

  Lena Luthor : Who's Kara?

  Supergirl : Just a friend. You don't know me. Not really. But you and I want the same thing, to do no harm.

  Lena Luthor : Supergirl wants a world without harm. That's rich. Where were you when my brother blew my helicopter out of the sky? When my mother dragged my broken body to a laboratory and experimented on me instead of fixing me? Where were you when this world was ripped apart by the seams? Where were you?

  Supergirl : I'm sorry I wasn't there when it mattered.

  Lena Luthor : So am I.

  [as she opens her coat lapel, Kara begins feeling the effects of her kryptonite heart] 

• Kara Danvers : I know it didn't turn out the way we expected, but you... you still helped me, Mxy. You freed me from my burden of guilt, so...

  [giving him his tape recorder back] 

  Kara Danvers : Go, be free. Use your magic to do whatever it is you do.

  Mxyzptlk : Thank you. Um... and, uh, I should say, uh... before I met you, I was, um... I was pretty lonely. You know, and in that pain, I... I would tend to sort of force myself... on people, and, uh... out there with you today, saving the world, I felt like, um... I felt like I was liked for being me. I felt like I had friends. And, uh... it's true what you said, Kara. That magic... can't be forced. It has to be found.

  Kara Danvers : I'm proud of you, Mxy. Thanks for everything.
