This little gem of an indie had a ten year journey into being that two very young women, girls really, undertook. filmed in their native brazil, a girl seeks out the women whom are continuing the ancient tradition of midwifery in order to gain greater clarity around her legacy in her dna. it was deeply impressing to see such a young one who knew exactly what she wanted, and then devoted her life to finding the answers she sought. the women she encountered all were so generous in sharing their stories, inviting her into their homes and their practitioner spaces. this was their way of life ~ their open arms and open doors to all in need. and open hearts, especially. the cinematography, filmed by her, also young, friend is done remarkably well with some well thought out subtle touches. as a teacher of the wisdom of the ancients, i was profoundly impacted by seeing the telling of stories and the teachings from mouth to ear, mother to daughters, passing on the secrets of plant medicine &c as the majority of these amazing indigenous women could neither read nor write, as it was millenniums ago. these women are so very revered in their communities, some of whom would be lost without their courageous midwifery and 'medical' resources, as it was with the ancients, as well. i bow with love and gratitude to the beautiful women who shared their wisdom handed down multi generationally. and brava to the two film makers. you are an inspiration.my tears streamed while watching, knowing the young ones will keep these wonderful gifts from our ancestors alive and available. thank you for giving me hope for the future. please watch with your daughters/children. and let this film help you to look into each other's eyes and talk from your hearts, today and all ways...
