The Game Awards 2020 are almost here, which means that it’s almost time for what’s quickly become one of the gaming industry’s biggest events of the year.
While The Game Awards has become one of the best sources for new game announcements and trailers outside of E3, the show still focuses on honoring the year’s best games. Granted, 2020 has been an unusual year, to say the least, but you wouldn’t know it just by looking at the list of The Game Awards 2020 nominees, which include not only the year’s best games but some of the best games in recent memory.
Here’s what you need to know about The Game Awards 2020:
The Game Awards 2020 Date
The Game Awards 2020 will air on Dec. 10. You will be able to watch it on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook Live, Steam, TikTokLive, and other platforms.

“X meets Y” is a useful critical shorthand, but it certainly has its limitations. I was prepared to call Carrion an unholy blend of Metroid, Arkham Asylum, and Saya no Uta, but that would disregard its likeness to ‘Splosion Man and Prototype. As such, while the individual pieces are present elsewhere, their arrangement here is something entirely new. The playable man-eating shoggoth at its core brings sci-fi horror imagery to life with grisly accuracy, which, combined with a quality-over-quantity approach to design, makes for a bloody good time.
First off, it’s remarkable how well the creature controls. Rather than attempt a traditional platforming setup for something that doesn’t have feet or even a standard orientation, the developers have opted for a tentacle-based method of locomotion. Much effort was clearly expended in order to accommodate players’ intuition, and the result is a smooth and suitably freeform movement style that...

As subscription-based, on-demand gaming services have gained popularity in recent years, both PlayStation Now and Xbox Game Pass have established their positions at the top of the market by offering a variety of content and great value for subscribers. There’s just one burning question demands to be answered: Which one is better?
It’s a tough one. Each has advantages over the other – Ps Now has more attractive pricing plus its library of 700+ titles makes Game Pass’ library of 200+ titles look paltry in comparison, whereas Xbox Game Pass tends to offer more recent games as well as including first party titles on the day of release.
It’s hard to say which one is better overall, but taken one month at a time, we may get our answer. So join us as we look at what’s been added and what was removed from each service and declare which...

You know that bit in your favorite scary movie where you get to know your soon-to-be-slaughtered protagonists and the tension is slowly strung out like the string of a bow? Yeah, Carrion doesn’t do that. Instead, it skips right to the good part and gives you control of the monster. You play as an amorphous blob creature who breaks out of a test chamber to swiftly wreak havoc on an underground lab. It’s the stuff all great slasher fiction is made of, only here the “reverse horror” conceit firmly places you in the driver’s seat.
Such a setup might sound incredibly simple, but it’s representative of the risks indie games are often willing to take compared to what you’ll see in most Aaa releases. In Carrion’s case, the unique genre gamble absolutely pays off, aided by slick gameplay and the low-fi pixel art that...

Also, take a closer look at the hip-hop group Lin-Manuel Miranda was in before he did “Hamilton” in a new documentary called “We Are Freestyle Love Supreme.”

June 2020 is set to be a big month for the whole streaming Disney family. Not only will ESPN+ have the entirety of The Last Dance on its servers for late-adopting sports fans to catch up with, but Disney+ will be premiering its long-awaited Artemis Fowl film. Over on its biggest streaming service in Hulu, however, Disney is taking things a bit more slowly.
This month finds only three major original releases for Hulu. Animated medieval comedy Crossing Swords premieres on June 12, then Ya love story Love Victor and cooking show Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi both arrive on June 19. All in all, that’s not a bad haul for originals for the typically slow summer months.
June 1 sees a pretty impressive crop of movies coming to Hulu’s library as well. October Sky, The X-Files (1998), and Casino will all be ready to stream at the beginning of the month.

As Sony and Microsoft eye the next generation of video game consoles, and Google experiments with cloud gaming with its Stadia platform, studios everywhere are preparing to give this generation its swan song while crafting the future of the industry. The result will be a year full of compelling new experiences, jaw-dropping remakes, long-awaited sequels, and a few games that defy classification. As such, we’ve picked all of the upcoming games you need to keep an eye on in 2020.
You may be wondering where games like Metroid Prime 4 are on our list. While it’s certainly possible (maybe even likely) that game and other highly-anticipated titles will be released in 2020, for the moment, we are only including games that have been granted a 2020 release window or release date. Rest assured that we will be updating this list as more games are confirmed.

"We're all being hunted." Gravitas has debuted an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Carrion, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Michael Zaiko Hall, making his move into directing after years in visual effects. Jenya Chaplin stars as a young woman who shows up on her cousin's doorstep in Northern California after a ten year absence. As dark events from the past resurface, someone in the woods follows their every move. Who is she, and who are they? The film also stars Chloe Caro, Nathan Knight, Marc Victor, Sierra Goddard, and Oliver Caspersen. It's a bit hard to make out exactly what's going on in this trailer, but it looks like it has a nice, chilly atmosphere to it at least. Check out the footage below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Michael Zaiko Hall's Carrion, direct from Gravitas' YouTube: The past is coming back to hunt her.
