A weird piece of 90's Finland. And it was huge. I remember the ads of Hype in every possible magazine but I never saw the video, or the original stage show at the time. Watching the video now is a strange experience. It's a very cheesy teen drama with a lot of musical scenes. Watching the video it seems likely that the song and dance numbers have probably been exciting on the stage, but they don't entirely translate to the video format. Only the eurodance style "Hypedance" sang by Tino Singh is notably catchy and also familiar. I think it must have been playing on the radio at the time. That one song and its music video-ish visuals is better than everything else on the tape. Overall Hype does not offer much for today's watcher except a crazy time capsule to 1995's hairstyles and bright colored clothing. Also, the very thin acted story in the movie is about an anti-drug message. You can't get much more 90's than that.
