Piers Morgan and the late Jerry Springer have taken their places in UK regulator Ofcom’s first ever all-encompassing list of the most complained about TV shows of all time.
Morgan’s Good Morning Britain rant, during which he questioned Meghan Markle’s claims that her time with the royal family had left her feeling suicidal, sits top of the pile with 54,595 complaints, coming as the regulator publishes the all-time list to celebrate its 500th monthly bulletin. The incident led to Morgan exiting Good Morning Britain.
Ofcom cited complaints about Jerry Springer the Opera in 2005, which numbered nearly 9,000 and feature in ninth place on the list, as “the first time we had seen high volumes of standards complaints to Ofcom” and “the first large scale internet campaign to Ofcom on any broadcasting issue.”
The BBC show attracted ire from viewers who were offended by its content including depictions of religious figures.

Some things never get old. It’s been years since One Direction went on a hiatus soon after Zayn Malik left the group. At that time, the band was at the top of its game, having released 5 studio albums since they were formed in 2010. Though all of them have fared well since the split, arguably none of them managed to reach the heights that One Direction had scaled. The One Direction name still holds a special place in fans’ hearts. Simon Cowell found that out the hard way.

In March, the news arrived that Simon Cowell was in talks with Netflix to start a new show. The show focuses on talented people auditioning to form a new boy band similar to One Direction. This week, Simon’s been calling for people to audition. So, presumably, he signed off with the streaming giant. New updates reveal he works with Box To Box, who have done documentaries for Netflix in the past.

The talent hunter has a history of success with shows like American Idol, The X Factor UK, and America’s Got Talent. He also did well with similar shows across the pond. Rumors have been swirling that Bruno Tonioli might be leaving Britain’s Got Talent, with comedian Alan Carr potentially stepping in as a replacement. The ITV show’s reshuffling of dates is at the heart of this potential switch, conflicting with Tonioli’s commitments to Dancing with the Stars. A source stated, Once it became clear auditions were starting in October, as opposed to January as per the previous 17 series, it became clear Bruno may not be able to take part. With Tonioli committed to his US obligations, ITV’s decision to reschedule Bgt has become non-negotiable. Alan Carr in the Spotlight This...

With “Dancing with the Stars” set to come back for a 33rd season this fall, there’s a long list of celebrities who deserve to compete on the dance floor. Three of my past suggestions did ultimately become “DWTS” contestants: Frankie Muniz (who came in third in season 25), Kel Mitchell (who came in second in season 28), and Jamie Lynn Spears (who was the second to be eliminated last season). Below is a list of female celebs I think the show should consider inviting to the ballroom to vie for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Do you agree with my picks? Check them out below, and vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know who you’d most like to see on “DWTS.” And feel free to let us know in the comments what other stars you would like to see when the show comes back in September.

Netflix is bolstering its entertainment formats unit with a big new music competition series.
The streamer has ordered Building The Band (w/t) as it shifts its focus away from cable-esque fare to competing with the major broadcast networks for the next The Voice or American Idol.
Check back tomorrow for an interview with new Netflix reality boss Jeff Gaspin on the company’s new strategy.
Building the Band seeks to discover the next great music group without bandmates initially meeting face-to-face. The series brings together 50 of the most talented singers to compete for a chance to form their own band without ever seeing each other. All they have to go on is musical compatibility, connection, chemistry and merit. What will happen when the bands finally meet and… looks, choreography, and style come into play?
The series comes from The Wall producer Remarkable Entertainment, which is part of Banijay UK.

Local Choir’s Version Of ‘Music’ Gets Tick Of Approval From Madonna, Sharing It With 19.8M Followers
Madonna has made a country choir’s dreams come true, sharing their video performing one of her hits with her 19.8 million followers on Instagram.
The choir from Northampton in the middle of the UK had sung their own version of Madonna’s 2000 hit Music and shared it on social media – where the BBC reports it was spotted by the pop superstar and re-posted it on her own Instagram Stories.
The Northants Sings Out choir had previously appeared on the UK’s Britain’s Got Talent, but the choirmaster Gareth Fuller told the BBC receiving this tick of approval from Madonna was “just unreal.”
Their version of Music was part of a montage which included the hymn All is Well and also Show Me Love by Robin S. So far, the BBC reports that 280,000 viewers have watched the clip on YouTube, but this number will no doubt rocket as a result of Madonna’s endorsement.

The talent show judge is known for getting horrific migraines. His new love interest just might help with those migraines.
These migraines have gotten in the way of his work. Cowell recently had to leave the set while filming Britain’s Got Talent due to the fact he was having a migraine. The bright lights of the set can trigger a migraine. This is why he is often seen wearing tinted sunglasses. Migraines can also be triggered by stress. Judging from the photos Simon Cowell posted on Instagram, his new love might help lower his stress level.

Ant and Dec returned to the UK’s Saturday evening TV schedule this weekend, drawing ITV’s biggest overnight audience of the year so far.
The veteran entertainment duo, who have already said this 20th series of Saturday Night Takeaway will be their last, attracted an average of 4.9million viewers for the launch show, with a peak of 5.6m, reports the Daily Mail.
They brought a dose of nostalgia, with throwback pictures of themselves on the very first show back in 2002.

Exclusive: “Peggy Ramsay used to say ‘agent’ is the most disgusting word in the English language,” ponders Adam Welsh, the founder of Divergent Talent Group (Dtg).
For a group of changemakers making their way through the UK’s bustling agenting landscape, the words uttered by Ramsay, one of the greats — who repped the likes of Stephen Poliakoff, David Hare and J.B. Priestley — don’t exactly chime.
These agents are spearheading the UK TV and film industry’s drive to improve representation for disabled talent, a minority that makes up 20% of the British population and yet is vastly under-utilized both on the small screen and behind the camera.
Welsh founded his agency devoted to repping neurodivergent talent in 2021. Sara Johnson and Julie Fernandez have recently joined Casarotto Ramsay in an intriguing dual role representing, training and developing talent, while long-time advocate Andrew Roach, whose clients include Britain’s Got Talent winner Lost Voice Guy,...

NBC‘s America’s Got Talent has been hit with a lawsuit filed by Jonathan Harvey, a former contestant, stuntman and escapologist, who performs under the name Jonathan Goodwin. A stunt on the shortlived spinoff series America’s Got Talent: Extreme went horribly wrong, and now Goodwin is paralyzed from the waist down, according to the lawsuit, which names NBCUniversal, Syco Entertainment, Freemantle Media North America and others as defendants. Goodwin alleges that the defendants “were negligent and failed to implement industry safety standards,” leading to injuries that are noted in the lawsuit as being “catastrophic” and “life-altering.” The stuntman was known for his extensive involvement with the AGT franchise, including appearing on Britain’s Got Talent, which he described in the lawsuit as a “professional and respectful” experience. However, his later encounters with America’s Got Talent were less pleasant, he claims. Despite these experiences, he decided to participate when the show announced...

Former “Britain’s Got Talent” judge David Walliams has filed a lawsuit against Fremantle, the show’s producer, after departing from the series last year amid controversy.
The suit, filed last week, is classified as dealing with data protection, according to the BBC. No further details have been revealed at this time.
The filing comes months after the longtime judge for the ITV show, who has also risen to prominence as an actor, comedian and author, exited the show last November when the Guardian reported that Walliams had made sexually explicit remarks about two contestants, according to a leaked transcript.

The recordings trace back to 2020 taping, during which Walliams allegedly calls one contestant a “c–t” and while referring to another by saying, “she thinks you want to f–k her, but you don’t.”
