- Eluding Kudlak, Sarah Jane discovers from her computer Mr. Smith that Kudlak is from the Uvodni race, sent to Earth to recruit warriors in his peoples' fight against the rival Malakh. Clyde and Luke are amongst the recruits on a ship travelling to Kudlak's planet but Sarah Jane manages to teleport herself and Maria onto the ship, where they see the Mistress, a computer whose orders Kudlak obeys. In fact the war with the Malakh ended years earlier and the Uvodni leader told the Mistress this but 'she' was not programmed to recognize peace and has maintained the conscription. On learning this Kudlak destroys the computer and releases his captives back to Earth.—don @ minifie-1
- Having just been teleported from Combat 3000 to an identical room, Luke collapses, feeling ill, while Clyde thinks it was just special effects. In the security room, Kudlak apologizes for having to kill Sarah Jane and Maria in wartime, but Sarah Jane knocks him aside and they slip away. Kudlak gives chase, and Sarah Jane and Maria just manage to avoid being shot as they escape outside, promising to find the boys. Meanwhile, Luke has noticed the floor of the room they are in is now vibrating where it was not previously. Before they can investigate, the door to the room they were stuck in opens, and a number of helmeted and armed guards grab them and shove them into a crate. At Combat 3000, Kudlak nearly kills Grantham for letting Sarah Jane and Maria infiltrate and escape the arcade, but is stopped by the voice of the Mistress, who tells him to continue the operation, and Grantham decides how to deal with the security breach.
In the Attic, Maria and Sarah Jane describe Kudlak to Mr. Smith, who identifies him as a Uvodni, a race of talented warriors who have been warring with a hyper-aggressive species called the Malakh for generations. According to his data, General Kudlak was injured in battle and sent away from the front lines years ago, though by his reputation, Sarah Jane guesses he is far from retirement. Putting together the clues, Sarah Jane theorizes that Kudlak has been using the laser tag games as a way to recruit new soldiers for the war. Elsewhere, the guards take Luke and Clyde to a room with a number of other locked crates, and leave. Luke uses the wiring from his laser tag vest to reach through the crack in the door and remove the fastener, freeing them from the box. They open the other crates, finding half a dozen other captive teenagers, including Lance. At 13 Bannerman Road, Sarah Jane has Mr. Smith start to calculate where the boys have been teleported to, but is interrupted by Grantham breaking in downstairs. Sarah Jane confronts him about his part in the kidnappings, but he shows no remorse. While he distracted by Sarah Jane, Maria manages to knock him out.
The boys and other abducted teens compare notes, realizing they were all taken after completing Level 2 of Combat 3000 somewhere in the U.K. One of the guards returns, and the kids jump him and run out the open door. Before they get far, the find a window leading outside, and discover they are on a huge spaceship in Earth's orbit. Just then, they are found by Kudlak and his guards and recaptured. They are taken to an audience chamber, where an image of the Mistress lauds them for their bravery and determination. Kudlak says they will all make excellent warriors in the fight against the Malakh, but they insist they were only playing a game on earth. Kudlak and the Mistress are determined that the game is merely preparation for war, and tells them that if they do not fight they will be killed. On earth, Sarah Jane and Maria for Grantham to teleport them up to the Uvodni ship, or else have evidence of his nefarious deeds be leaked to the authorities. Grantham reluctantly agrees, and starts by telling them that Kudlak is not the one in charge.
In the audience chamber, Kudlak asks the Mistress how many of the recruits they have sent to the front lines still live, but she dodges the question. Kudlak admits that he longs for peace, which the Mistress scorns him for, saying without war the galaxy has no use for either of them. She congratulates him on his work, saying the human progeny have limitless potential on the battlefield. She instructs him to prepare the teenagers to be transported across the galaxy to the front lines. Back in the holding deck, Clyde, Luke, and the others discuss what to do. Luke uses Clyde's phone and wires it into the spaceship's computer, finding a plan of the ship and an alien shuttle that could take them back to earth. Luke also uses it to open the door again, which both confuses and impresses his peers. Back on earth, Grantham activates the teleporter and sends Sarah Jane and Maria up to the Uvodni spaceship, and they set about trying to find the kids. Meanwhile, Luke leads the escaped teens through the ship while the guards attempt to fire on them. He hacks into another interface to open a locked door, finding something interesting in the database. Sarah Jane and Maria find the audience chamber and the image of the Mistress, and they argue about using human children to fight in a war. Sarah Jane asks the Mistress about any recent news from the front, which the Mistress does not answer. Clyde, Luke, and the other teens make it to the shuttle, but are chases down and again stopped by Kudlak, who applauds them as the finest warriors he has ever recruited. He takes them again to the audience chamber, walking in on Sarah Jane and Maria as the Mistress orders him to shoot them. Before he can kill them, Luke tells him that the war against the Malakh is over, making Kudlak listen long enough to show him a message that was hidden in the ship's data from the Uvodni Emperor. The Emperor declares that a truce has been formed and calls his soldiers to return home. Luke tells Kudlak that the message is dated from ten years ago, which shocks the general, who confronts the Mistress. She begins to glitch out, and they realize that the Mistress is just the ship's computer, one that was not programmed to recognize peace from a centuries long war. Kudlak furiously destroys the Mistress, and orders Sarah Jane and the kids to be released. He is ashamed of his actions in the name of a false war, and offers his life in recompense. Sarah Jane forgives him, and he vows to try and find the surviving human soldiers he sent to fight and return them home.
Sarah Jane and the children are teleported back to earth as the Uvodni ship flies away. Jen, one of the other teens from the ship, kisses Luke as thanks for saving them, and Sarah Jane, Maria, Clyde, and Luke take Lance home to his relieved mother. As they head home, Luke asks Clyde to explain one last thing to him; Girls. A subject even Clyde has yet to understand.
