- Authorized Ernie Banks Biography Movie
- ON SMOOTHER DIRT Chiseled on a grave stone in a cemetery straddling the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens are the words: "A LIFE IS NOT IMPORTANT EXCEPT FOR THE IMPACT IT HAS ON OTHER LIVES" ON SMOOTHER DIRT is the story of a young poor cotton picker from North Dallas who forever impacted the lives of millions the world over. It is a story of goodwill, and a never faltering belief and hope that we can all find joy in each other, which is so very important for the entire world right now. Ernie Banks was an enigma and a conundrum. But for sure he spent his allotted years here on this Earth as if he himself had etched those precious and timeless words on the gravestone of his dear friend Jackie Robinson. This is not a story focused on breaking race barriers nor of the game itself, nor of his athletic prowess or statistics and his place in the rankings of the greatest players of all time . . . it's a story of the man behind the famous smile and personality, the man who would garner a much more glorious statistic . . . as the most beloved and culturally unifying player to ever take the field in a time where it shouldn't have ever been possible. Yet beneath that beloved public persona lived a surprising soul, a soul who hid secrets that have never been revealed . . . until now. Nearing the end of his time here on this Earth, ON SMOOTHER DIRT is the story Ernie wanted to tell.—John Biord, Writer/Director
