Sheep playing football shouldn't be so much fun

The first episode of "Shaun the Sheep", Off the ball..., I mean... baa!, finds the flock playing a football match with a cabbage, while the pigs wait to their chance to eat it.

Aardman Animation are masters in the stop-motion department. This is a clear example. The visual gags (there's no talking) are quite good and there's a good chance you will find yourself grinning all through the episode. One would think that an animation about a flock of sheep wouldn't be so much fun.

A very nice way to expend seven minutes. Oh, and the sheep are really cute.

Off To A Great Start!!

This was my first look at the one of the episodes of "Shaun Of The Sheep." I was very impressed, but not surprised as I've seen all the Wallace & Gromit films and shorts. Thus, I was well aware of the great talents of the "roots," so to speak, of these animated shorts.

In this first episode, it's the sheep vs the sheep vs. the pigs an all-out soccer (football to the British, who made this series) match with a cabbage as the ball. Well, the pigs aren't actually interesting in playing, just eating the "ball." All of this is very funny, very clever material. I especially loved the battle between the sheep and the pigs and the lengths the two groups went to manage control of the cabbage.

Other scenes earlier, such as the ball disappearing into the wool of a big, fat sheep is guaranteed to give you a laugh or two. Actually, about everything in here is good stuff!
