Part time job antics

Always have gotten much enjoyment out of the segment-structured 'Tiny Toon Adventures' episodes, of which there are many. More so than episodes with just one story. As is the case with films and episodes made up of segments, most episodes have ones that do work very well but also others that underwhelm and quite a lot of it is dependent on which character it's centered around. What is meant by that is that the show has a lot of amazing characters but also a couple that tend to not shine as much.

"Career Opport-Toon-Ities" is a very good episode. It is not one of the most consistent segment-structured 'Tiny Toon Adventures' episodes mind, to me it was a case of two of the three segments ("Buster's Guide to Getting a Job", "Working Pig" and "Falling to Pizzas") being brilliant and one being not quite as much. Not uncommon for the show, and am speaking as a big fan before getting hate for saying that. A lot of students and anybody who has been through the whole finding a part time job process in order to get a specific thing will relate to the subject and the situations.

The weakest segment to me was "Working Pig". Does that mean that it is a bad segment? Absolutely not, just that there was a preference for the other two. It is still well crafted and amusing, but the other two to me were funnier, more creative and had a sharper energy.

Do feel too that while Hamton and Elmyra are not bad characters and both have actually grown on me overtime, they are not as compelling in personality as the other characters.

On the other hand, "Buster's Guide on Getting a Job" fares the best. It is the segment that is the most true in spirit to the razor sharp wit and wackiness that is such a big part of 'Tiny Toon Adventures' appeal. Also Buster and Babs always interact so well together and both are awesome characters in their own way. "Falling on Pizzas" was also a lot of fun and is a fond reminder of what the Roadrunner and Wile E Coyote cartoons were like before their respective series became increasingly repetitive. Calamity Coyote is the more interesting and funnier character out of the two, like Wile, but Little Beeper isn't too annoying or one-note.

Some obvious goofs aside, the animation is brightly colourful and beautifully drawn and detailed. The animators also clearly had a lot of fun with the characters' facial expressions, and at their best are deliciously exaggerated. The music is typically characterful and clever, complete with the infectious theme song. The writing is witty and affectionate, especially "Buster's Guide on Getting a Job". Can be mixed on the wraparound stories that link the segments in the segment-structured episodes, but the one here tied the three segments together neatly and was not uninteresting. The link into "Falling on Pizzas" particularly amused. Buster and Babs are on top form, as are all the voice actors.

In conclusion, very good. 8/10
