A scene showing the announcement that the FBI is conducting a criminal investigation into the leak of Valerie's name is dated September 26, 2003. A minute earlier two White House officials are shown looking at newspaper reports of the federal grand jury investigation which were written in 2005 and 2006, as seen in the byline.

Dr. Zahra's flight boarding pass is shown to have combined English and Arabic text, however, the Arabic part does not mean anything in the Arabic Language. In the disclaimer at the very end, it states, "The Names Used Herin Are Ficticious." This is a misspelling of "Fictitious." It continues with, " Any Similarity Of Those Fictitious," spelling it correctly the second time.

Joe Wilson is portrayed as removing his shoes before passing through airport security. This was not standard practice until 2003, however expensive shoes with a metal reinforcing in the sole have always set off metal detectors and therefore he did so voluntarily.
Though the film takes place in 2002-2003, during the opening scene Plame mentions Mark Bell signing with the Maple Leafs. At that time, Bell played for the Chicago Blackhawks and wouldn't play for the Leafs until the 2007-2008 season.
