After helming the little-known horror flick The Evil Woods, (Now Streaming on Hulu) writer-director Aaron Harvey has jumped into the big leagues with Catch .44, an action-packed crime-drama that boasts star power like Bruce Willis, Malin Akerman, Forest Whitaker and Brad Dourif.
Akerman heads an all-girl crime crew – that includes vamps Nikki Reed (Twilight) and Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood) – in this twist-filled flick. Contracted by an unhinged dealer (Willis seemingly channeling Woody Harrelson) to snatch a drug shipment, these gun-packing gals enter a world of betrayal, bloodshed and bizarre Scarface imitations from a bewildering Whitaker.
The trailer below revels in weirdness with grindhouse graphics, confounding connections, and some thoroughly odd performances from Willis and Whitaker. Enjoy:

Catch .44 hits theaters in New York and North Carolina December 9th, and will make its way to Blu-ray and DVD December 20th.

‘Catch .44′ Trailer: Bruce Willis, Forest Whitaker and Malin Akerman Stumble Through a Comedic Caper
You might remember some casting [1] notes [2] about a film called Catch .44. They hit in the summer of 2010, and the names involved in the film are notable, at the very least: Bruce Willis, Forest Whitaker, Malin Akerman, Deborah Ann Woll, Brad Dourif and Shea Wigham. We've finally got a look at the film and it is easy to see why we've heard almost nothing about this since the first casting was announced: it looks like barely reheated post-Tarantino or Guy Ritchie crime foolishness. Still, check out the trailer below just to hear Whitaker's accent. I'm probably not the only one who thinks that restaurant robbery scene feels an awful lot like Pulp Fiction, while a lot of the rest of the movie plays like a college-age medium trying to channel the spirit of Guy Ritchie's Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. You couldn't walk into a video...

Malin Akerman works hard for the money in Catch .44.
Bruce Willis (Red) and Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker (Repo Men) star in the 2011 independent crime film Catch .44, written and directed by Aaron Harvey (The Evil Woods).
The movie’s story revolves around three bad-ass beauties who work in a strip joint (Couples Retreat’s Malin Akerman, Twilight’s Nikki Reed and Deborah Ann Woll from TV’s True Blood) and their plot to double-cross their equally bad-ass boss (Willis) when he sends them on a job to hijack a shipment of drugs making its way up from Mexico. Well, wouldn’t you know that the double-crosses lead to triple-crosses and all other manner of betrayals involving a crusty trucker, a nutty short-order cook and a psychotic hit man disguised as a highway patrolman (Whitaker)!

This afternoon Lionsgate Home Entertainment announced The Evil Woods for DVD release on June 3. In Aaron Harvey's film five high school teens take an impromptu weekend camping trip to a notorious desolate party spot. Following their ignorant group leader, John, they anticipate a fun weekend composed of getting stoned and drinking beer. Upon arrival, they quickly realize the location is far removed from any other human life. As night falls, an older gentleman, The Ranger, appears out of nowhere and joins the group at their campfire to tell the story of the "Beer Hunter." It is a legend about a man that has killed those who littered their beer cans in the woods and who set fire to his remote wood cabin. The "Beer Hunter's" spirit has lived on to seek revenge on ignorant, careless teenagers... read on for more.
