Twitter users are livid at how America's cable news networks initially reported the Charleston massacre. Fox News has come in for criticism for carrying an interview with Donald Trump as the tragic news came out of the South Carolina city. CNN has also been sharply criticized for running international feeds and being slow to respond. MSNBC and the network news organizations haven't escaped criticism either, with many on social media feeling that coverage has been slow and lacking. Movie Review: "Yaarukku Theriyum"; Star Cast: Sanjana Singh, Jayaprakash, Riyaz Khan and Kalabhavan Mani; Director: Ganeshan Kamaraj; Rating: ** - partly engaging.
Along the lines of Hollywood movies such as "Nine Dead" and "Saw", "Yaarukku Theriyum", a crime-thriller, would've definitely created an impact only if the director had opted for a familiar and experienced star cast. Despite an engaging plot, the film struggles to keep you hooked and eventually graduates as one sans any thrills.

Panic Button is a United Kingdom shot indie film that was recently released on Blu-Ray, DVD and video-on-demand. Made for under $300K UK pounds Panic Button takes place on a small jet with four distressed characters wanting to get off this doomed flight. Comparable to the Saw franchise, Nine Dead and early parts of Marcus Grave's Choose as there are tough choices here, this film can be a little predictable while also raising some important internet issues e.g. cyber bullying, privacy.
Max (Jack Gordon), Jo (Scarlett Alice Johnson), Dave (Michael Jibson), and Gwen (Elen Rhys) have won the trip of a life time or so they think. A trip to New York City promises excitement while a pixelated alligator also promises SUVs, diamonds and assorted contest winnings. All they have to do is sign the terms...

Nine Dead had some fairly good actors in it like John Terry from Lost and Melissa Joan Hart but I am not too big of a fan of hers just because she annoys the crap out of me. The film was directed by Chris Shadley who has done tons of crew jobs for films like Red Eye, Cloverfield, and many more. The writer of the film is first timer Patrick Wehe Mahoney which I believe did a very good job until the end of the film with the twist which made me hate…...

Machete (DVD/Blu-ray)
A bad-ass, star-studded action-thriller from Robert Rodriguez (Desperado), Machete is an over-the-top homage to 1970′s exploitation movies, starring Danny Trejo as a Mexican Federale seeking revenge against a vicious drug lord (Steven Seagal), a ruthless vigilante (Don Johnson) and a power-mad politician (Robert De Niro). He is helped by a savvy immigration agent (Jessica Alba), revolutionary She (Michelle Rodriguez) and by his brother, a priest (Cheech Marin), and finds solace with a drug addict (Lindsay Lohan) along the way. There is very little information on this Canadian shot film, but Die brings viewers a whole new world of horror; well maybe not completely new. The film involves six self-destructive people, who wake up behind bars. Each of their lives depends on a role of the dice and a new trailer is now available for this feature.
There is an expected 2010 release date for this film in Canada. However, there is no further expectation of territory releases, based on today's knowledge. Caramel Films co-produced this title and horror fans can definitely make comparisons between this title and the Saw franchise. Can you see other similarities to other films? Enjoy the trailer inside courtesy of Film-Book.com and QuietEarth.us.
The synopsis for the film is here:
"Six people, each of them is on the road to self-destruction. They wake up in cells in a surreal facility, without knowing how they got there or why.

Daniel Baldwin (Grey Gardens), Emmy nominated John Heard (The Pelican Brief) and Brendan Sexton III (Black Hawk Down) will star in a story about a hostage taking in an "upscale home by a volatile intruder" (Maverick). Tis good to see Baldwin in a larger performance after his cameo in Nine Dead. More details below.

Collective Development's production Locked in a Room recently completed shooting with help from At Risk Entertainment. The film hosts an assortment of genre favourites including Carlucci Weyant (Karma), Rae'Ven Larrymore Kelly (The Preacher’s Kid), Robert Miano (Donnie Brasco), Dean Teaster (Dean Teaster’s Ghost Town), and DJ Perry (An Ordinary Killer). Distribution has not been confirmed yet, but expect this film to be available in the fourth quarter of 2010 (a prediction).
If you are not familiar with the story, Locked in a Room starts with three teenagers locked in "three separate rooms" (28Dla). Sounds simple enough, except events get mysterious and deadly when an anonymous male voice demands they escape, but can they? These dressed down one or two set constructions have been popular e.g. Nine Dead because of their reliance on characterizations and writing rather than complex set design and multiple locations. Nine Dead is a Hartbreak Film production that is a tightly wound thriller. Released on DVD in March 9th and the writing focuses on dramatic dialogue. The film stars Melissa Joan Hart, John Terry, and Daniel Baldwin. Thankfully most of Baldwin's scenes were cut in favour of a film that unravels like a jigsaw puzzle. This picture only reveals itself in the end.
Nine Dead begins with nine people from the Los Angeles or Las Vegas areas being kidnapped by a masked stranger. Not much later, these nine characters awaken in a dingy warehouse room handcuffed to metal poles. Each of these strangers are connected. They only have a few minutes to figure out what that connection is before being executed by the mysterious stranger.

Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire Before making this my top pick of the week I had to watch it again. I love this movie, but I wasn't about to make a purchasing recommendation without having watched it a second time myself. I didn't think that would be fair to you considering this is a hard film to watch at times. That said, after a second viewing, if I was given the duty of handing out the Best Picture Oscar, the producers of Precious would have walked home with the hardware on Sunday night. A Prophet remains my favorite film of 2009 from an entertainment perspective, and other films stack on top of Precious when it comes to movies I would watch repeatedly as evidenced by my top 25 of 2009 where Precious came in at #13, directly behind The Hurt Locker...

Fabrication Films has picked up Nine Dead for distribution and now, to celebrate the union, a new one-sheet poster has been released. The newest poster looks very morbid with, likely, may of the characters lying in a prone position and possibly comatose or worse. Already Nine Dead has had its premiere at the American Film Market, but now, with distribution, the film is likely to show through a limited run with a future DVD/Bluray release in the works. Very other info' is currently available on director Chris Shadley's Nine Dead other than the film will have a 2010 release. Stay tuned for details.

Another horror fan drops me a line on "Nine Dead," starring Melissa Joan, which is moving towards a mid 2009 release date. A trailer is already online at the "Nine Dead," homepage; yet, this feature seems to be taking a line out of the original "Saw," movie play book, with central characters banding together to solve a puzzle and the title, a play on words of the saying, "a cat has nine lives," seems pretty kitschy.
From the trailer, the use of hoods and wooden posts seems to be an attempt by writer Patrick Wehe Mahoney, or director Chris Shadley to play up on the viewer's fear of hostage taking abroad. And is the title "Nine Dead," revealing the ending of the film? Have a look at a couple stills of Melissa Joan Hart at her bloody best and the first trailer that has a dark, sinister appeal.

Casting has begun on a new indie horror film that sounds inspired by Saw entitled Nine Dead. Directed by Chris Shadley from a script by Patrick Wehe Mahoney, nine people, seemingly picked at random, find themselves locked together in a heavily fortified basement, chained to poles and told at gunpoint to figure out why they are here, or face certain death. In ten minute intervals, one among them is unceremoniously gunned down by the Shooter, whose need for revenge has taken the form of twisted ritualism. Melissa Joan Hart and John Terry star.
