- TriviaAs of 2013, the house has been renamed "The Inn at Rodanthe" and completely refurbished to more closely resemble the interior movie scenes which were filmed elsewhere in North Carolina. Sun Realty manages the property and has extensive photographs of the interior, particularly the blue bedroom in which Richard Gere's character stays while visiting. The unique shutter doors into the kitchen have also been re-created as have the various shutters, porches, and exterior details.
- GoofsThe wild horses do not exist where the movie takes place. They are actually about 60 miles north near Corolla. They would have to swim across a wide inlet to get to Rodanthe from Corolla. Another herd of these wild horses is on Ocracoke Island, about 35 miles south, but are penned in for their protection. Another herd of these wild horses are located on the Cape Lookout National Seashore, and freely roam between Cape Lookout, Shackleford Banks, and Carrot Island, near Beaufort, NC.
- Quotes
Adrienne Willis: I know you've only ever known your father and me. And I love Jack, because he is your father. But there's another kind of love, Amanda. One that gives you the courage to be better than you are, not less than you are. One that makes you feel that anything is possible. I want you to know that you could have that. I want you to hold out for it.

Incredibly romantic
Richard Gere has a generational persona. To those who first saw him in the 1970s, playing bad boy types like Looking for Mr. Goodbar and Days of Heaven, he's a lot different than those who think of him as the perpetually romantic fellow from An Officer and a Gentleman and Pretty Woman. I watched Nights in Rodanthe with my mom, and she was so surprised by how romantic his character was. I just chuckled, since I've always known him to be romantic on the screen. My point is, no matter when you grew up, you'll love him in Nights in Rodanthe.
This is a Nicholas Sparks story, so you can be treated to the beautiful landscape of the North Carolina coast. After Christopher Meloni left his wife Diane for another woman, there's been horrible tension in her home with her two children. When he decides he's had his fling and now wants to return home, Diane needs time to think. She seeks refuge in her friend's, Viola Davis's, coastal bed and breakfast during storm season because there won't be any other guests. The inn has weathered many storms before so she'll be in no danger, and it'll be great for solitude and peace of mind. Only, she isn't alone for very long. Richard shows up, and he has a reservation. I know we're all going to be paying attention to Richard's gorgeous hair, but there is another part of the scenery that is even more breathtaking. Filmed on location, Viola's house on the beach is so pretty, and the view of the East coast will make you want to pack your bags for a vacation. If you do, you'll be able to rent one of those real beach houses, since a whole batch of them were turned into hotel rentals inspired by this movie. Pretty adorable, huh?
This incredibly romantic story is ideal for a girls' night in, as long as you make sure you have tons of cocktails and Kleenex at the ready. Sometimes, romance is just so sweet, it makes you want to cry. For anyone who gets depressed when the movie's over because they've never met anyone like Richard in real life, just remember it's a Nicholas Sparks novel. In real life, you'll have to settle for a man.
