Blair's TV Husband Is Real-Life Lover
Kath & Kim actress Selma Blair has found love with her on-screen husband.
The 36 year old, who plays Kimberly Crystal 'Kim' Day on the U.S. version of the TV sitcom, met actor Mikey Day, 28, when he was cast as her character's estranged husband, Craig Baker.
The pair's chemistry on camera carried on off-set - and they're now a happy couple in real life.
Blair says, "It's never happened to me before but it happened, I fell in love. I've never had a set romance. I think it makes work a lot more fun.
"We were really affectionate while we were shooting but we didn't get together until filming wrapped, because we didn't want it to be like, 'Ooh, what if you don't like me...?' (But) he's wonderful, he's so funny."...

Australian Network Pulls U.S. Kath + Kim
The American version of hit Aussie TV comedy Kath + Kim has failed to impress Antipodean viewers - it has been dropped from schedules after just two episodes.
Actress Selma Blair and U.S. funnywoman Molly Shannon play the role of the dysfunctional mother and daughter duo in the American adaptation of the award-winning series.
But Australia's Channel 7 has pulled the show from its primetime slot after the second episode viewing figures plummeted to 729,000 after a promising 1.23 million debut.
The network has put the show into "resting" - meaning it will be held until the Australian summer (Nov-Jan08), when Aussie TV returns to its non-ratings period.
And as a further blow, the original Kath + Kim will replace its American counterpart.
A spokesperson for Channel 7 says, "The figures didn't stand up for its second outing. For people who want to see more of the U.S. episodes they will return later this year."...

In August, BuddyTV gave you a Fall Review, giving you a sneak peek into the returning and new shows that will hit the airwaves this season. One of those shows is NBC’s Kath and Kim, which premieres on October 9 at 8:30pm. Unfortunately for most viewers, the TV critics are at it again, releasing their reviews and spoiling all the fun for us.
For those who wouldn’t want to be swayed, read no further because there may be bad news for those who are looking forward to NBC’s Kath and Kim, which stars Molly Shannon as Kath Day, Selma Blair as Kim Day, John Micheal Higgins as Phil Knight and Mikey Day as Craig Baker. Created by Gina Riley and Jane Turner, the original series of Kath and Kim hails from Australia, and was developed for American television by Reveille Productions and Universal Media Studios in cooperation with NBC.

Blair's Kath + Kim Wardrobe Left Her With Cut Thighs
Hollywood actress Selma Blair hated having to pile on the pounds for her latest role in TV comedy Kath + Kim - because her on-screen wardrobe was so tight, her clothes cut into her thighs.
The 36-year-old recently wrapped filming for the U.S. adaptation of the hit Australian show, but admits she struggled to enjoy herself on set when she was forced to squeeze into her character's tight-fitting clothes.
She says, "(It was) unpleasant. I'd have lacerations on my body from my shorts being so tight. They'd yell 'Cut!' and people would come over with a bathrobe because I was so embarrassed about the flab rolling over. It was so ugly. That and my double chin."
And Blair was constantly trying to avoid seeing photos of herself in character in the press - because the brightly-coloured outfits were so cringe-worthy.
She adds: "The character's fashion sense is really horrific. I'm wearing a lot of bright clothes and I don't wear anything except black and white in real life. I'm wearing orange and blue together. It's horrible. And wedge flip-flops all the time, toe rings, and an anklet. I have long hair, too, so I have these horrifying extensions and these long nails. It's so embarrassing."
The star has now slimmed down again, but insists it was a hard task: "I've lost the weight but it's difficult to get it off as you get older."...

Blair: 'Americans Are Deluded'
Actress Selma Blair has hit out at her fellow Americans - insisting U.S. citizens are too obsessed with celebrity lifestyle.
The star insists people in her native country spend too much time idolising those in the public eye, such as actress Lindsay Lohan and her family.
Speaking about the forthcoming American version of the Australian TV show Kath + Kim - in which she plays spoilt daughter Kim Craig - Blair says, "You don't think there are some deluded Americans? Hey, how about all of us!
"Everyone here is obsessed with tabloid celebrities and their lives and wanting to be like that, just like Kim.
"In America you have the people who watch the Lohans' reality show and want to be like Dina and Ali Lohan and live in a house with a throne in it. Everywhere! They're just everywhere!"...

Blair Battled TV Bosses For Kath + Kim Role
Actress Selma Blair is proud to be starring in the U.S. version of Australian TV comedy Kath + Kim - because she had to battle network bosses to land the role.
The Hellboy star has signed up to appear in the NBC adaptation of the hit Aussie show alongside funnywoman Molly Shannon.
It focuses on the dysfunctional relationship between a daughter and her mother.
And Blair had to fight hard to make TV executives believe she was the right candidate for the part - because no one wanted her to be involved in the project.
She explains, "We're trying to do it on our own terms. But it's a different show. This one has a little more heart than the Australian one.
"I really fought to do it. No one really wanted me, but it was great material. I really wanted to be on the show and stay put (in Hollywood) for a while. I think it will really work."...

NBC orders more 'Kath'
NBC has ordered seven more episodes of Kath & Kim, bringing the total order for the new series to 13 half-hours.
The pickup comes shortly after the mother-daughter comedy starring Molly Shannon and Selma Blair shot the first episode of its six-episode order. The show is scheduled to go back into production next month on the remaining segments.
"Kath & Kim," based on the hit Australian series, focuses on the dysfunctional relationship between Kath (Shannon), a cheerful, fortysomething divorcee, and her self-absorbed daughter, Kim (Blair).
The Reveille/Universal Media Studios-produced project originally was picked up to pilot last fall. Following the casting of Shannon and Blair as the two leads, NBC in February opted to forgo the pilot stage and go straight to series with a six-episode order.
Two months later, Kath landed on NBC's fall schedule on Tuesday nights. In May, the network moved it to the post-The Office Thursday 9:30 p.m. slot. Kath, which co-stars Michael Higgins and Mikey Day, is slated to premiere Oct.

NBC tweaks its Thursday lineup
NBC has tweaked its Thursday lineup, adding the new Kath & Kim to its comedy block.
The network also has opted to stick to a traditional rollout, launching the bulk of its fall lineup during premiere week, and to put on the new reality competition series America's Toughest Jobs earlier than planned.
There has been speculation that NBC might use its Aug. 8-24 Summer Olympics coverage as a springboard for an early fall rollout. Instead, the network will hold off, saving originals for the regular season and avoiding going head-to-head with Fox, which already has slotted several high-profile season premieres for the week of Aug. 25.
NBC will kick off premiere week Monday, Sept. 22, with a full night of Heroes, a clips show leading to a two-hour season premiere.
Also slated to launch during premiere week are Law & Order: SVU on Sept. 23, new drama Knight Rider and Lipstick Jungle on Sept. 24 and comedies My Name Is Earl and The Office -- which will return with one-hour premieres -- as well as ER on Sept.

NBC gives 'Kath and Kim' a series order
NBC is delivering on its promise to do more straight-to-series orders with a six-episode pickup for comedy Kath and Kim.
The project, from Reveille and Universal Media Studios, was originally picked up as a pilot last year but didn't get made because of difficulties casting the leads.
It was put on the fast track in June when Reveille's Ben Silverman and Teri Weinberg joined NBC as co-chairman and executive vp, respectively.
Kath and Kim, which is based on the hit Australian series of the same name, focuses on the dysfunctional relationship between Kath (Molly Shannon) and her daughter Kim (Selma Blair).
Instead of filming a pilot, NBC opted to go straight to series with a six-episode order shortly after securing the two leads. This is in line with NBC Universal chief Jeff Zucker's recent comments that NBC will produce only a handful of pilots each year and go straight to series whenever possible.
"This hilarious new series exemplifies how we are changing the pilot process by ordering shows that we believe in and green-lighting them straight to series," Silverman said.

Blair is CBS' Kim
After a lengthy search, NBC has zeroed in on Selma Blair to star opposite Molly Shannon in its comedy pilot Kath and Kim.
Blair is in negotiations to play Kim in the Reveille/Universal Media Studios project, which was put on the fast track in June when Reveille's Ben Silverman and Teri Weinberg joined NBC as co-chairman and executive vp, respectively.
Based on the hit Australian series "Kath & Kim," the NBC comedy focuses on the dysfunctional relationship between Kath (Shannon) and her daughter Kim (Blair).
Casting the title characters has been considered crucial to the success of the show. When the project was first picked up to pilot by NBC in January 2007, it was pushed to summer because of difficulties casting the leads.
Michelle Nader, who penned the most recent pilot script, is exec producing Kath with original series creators Gina Riley and Jane Turner as well as Rick McKenna.
Following her breakthrough roles on the WB Network comedy series Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane and in the feature Cruel Intentions, CAA-repped Blair went on to co-star in such movies as The Sweetest Thing and Legally Blonde.
She next reprises her role as Liz Sherman in Hellboy II: The Golden Army and will appear opposite Antonio Banderas in My Mom's New Boyfriend.

NBC's 'IT' could be out
NBC might be pulling the plug on the midseason comedy The IT Crowd.
The network made headlines in May by not putting a single new comedy series on its fall schedule for the first time in 30 years and by ordering only one new half-hour series, "IT," for midseason.
The hybrid multi-/single-camera "IT," from Universal Media Studios and American Idol producer FremantleMedia North America, is an ensemble comedy set in an IT department that stars Joel McHale and Rocky Carroll. Despite being based on a British format, which is the forte of new NBC chief Ben Silverman and his top lieutenant Teri Weinberg -- who, as producers at Reveille, developed a string of British comedy format adaptations, including NBC's Emmy-winning The Office -- they didn't quite spark to "IT," sources said. The series hasn't gone into production, though a couple of scripts have been written.
Despite IT's possible demise, NBC still could avoid a total new comedy drought this season. The network is casting the half-hour pilot Kath & Kim, a Reveille/UMS adaptation of the hit Australian comedy.
