Unremarked Italian Mafia piece
Mozjoukine21 March 2012
Disturbing that a film with this authority is not widely known in the English speaking movie world.

Not pleasant viewing, this one switches from the expected study of police persecution to a documentary (they would have you believe) account of Mafia activity.

( Yes - SPOILERS) Under police pressure over a high echelon mob kidnapping , Coco names associates and the cops cut him loose, which leaves him at risk. Uncle Tony Sperandeo, tries to fix things. However fingering the crucifix, Coco confesses his mob background. As a maybe supergrass, he ends in an asylum and there is a fire bombing, of which he may be the target.

The film is full of unfamiliar notes like the "nice girl" fiancée apologising for her lack of practice in the beach make out.

Contrast director Incerti's GORBACIOF and the Morreti films of writer Schleef. Well acted, particularly by Sperandeo and Bonaiuto, waving her son's suspect crazy papers, and nicely filmed in sunny, real settings - no noir detail here.
