Spike TV has renewed "1000 Ways to Die" and "MANswers" and is expanding the "Die" franchise with spinoff "1000 Ways to Lie."
The late-night trivia show "MANswers" has been picked up for 10 episodes, while the 13-episode order for "Die," from Thom Beers' Original Prods., includes a pilot for "Lie."
Just like "Die," which re-creates some of the most outlandish ways people died, "Lie" will showcase some of the most outrageous lies ever told in a fast-paced, tongue-in-cheek manner.
Beers pitched the title of the spinoff to Sharon Levy, Spike's senior vp original programming, and she was sold. "Thom's got his finger so firmly on the pulse on our core audience," Levy said.
"Die" and "MANswers," whose renewals Levy called "a no-brainer" based on their strong performance on TV and online, will air in a block next season, she said. (They have run on different nights, Sunday ("Die") and Tuesday ("MANswers")

The CW wants to give makeover reality shows a makeover.
The network has ordered a one-hour pilot titled Styledome that combines the traditional beauty makeover series with a race-against-the-clock competition show.
Each week, a trio of contestants must select a celebrity stylist from a lineup and compete in challenges and makeover drills to reinvent the contestant's look and confront issues holding them back in life. At the reveal, a live audience votes on which contestant benefited the most from the makeover
The project was created by Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun and produced by production companies Berman/Braun (Duel) and Super Delicious (Manswers, Amneisa).
In addition to Styledome, the CW also has a previously reported reality pilot from producers Tyra Banks and Ken Mok in which contestants vie to become assistant editors at a fashion magazine. The network also has "13," a reality horror series set for the summer.

Spike TV has ordered a second season of its late-night series MANswers.
The cable network has given a 10-episode pickup to the show, which revolves around male-oriented trivia.
Each half-hour episode of MANswers features re-enactments, expert one-on-ones and man-on-the-street interviews intended to educate Spike viewers on taboo topics in terms relatable to men.
In its first season, MANswers averaged 1.1 million viewers and ranked No. 2 with men 25-34 and No. 3 with men 18-34 in its 11 p.m. Wed?nesday slot (first-run episodes ran from September-November). A combination of new and mostly repeat episodes also has been outperforming repeats of the broadcast networks' late-night talk shows in the males 18-24 demographic since the writers strike started, according to Spike TV research.
"A new season of 'MANswers' means more answers to the questions guys really want to know," Spike senior vp original programming Sharon Levy said. "We like to think it is our way of providing a public service for our guy audience."
MANswers is from Fujisankei Communications International and Super Delicious.
