Vivien Leigh's only television performance.
Vivien Leigh had previously played Sabina onstage in London directed by husband Laurence Olivier, firstly in 1945 with Cecil Parker as Mr Antrobus, then in 1946 with personal friend George Devine who repeats his performance in the role here.
The original Broadway production of "The Skin of Our Teeth" by Thornton Wilder opened on November 18, 1942 at the Plymouth Theater, ran for 359 performances and won the Pulitzer Prize in Drama in 1943.
Tallulah Bankhead, who was the original Sabina onstage, had other links to roles made famous by Vivien Leigh: she was the first actress to film a screen-test for Scarlett O'Hara, and also turned down the role of Blanche Dubois in the first production of A Streetcar Named Desire, although she would finally play it in 1956.
The recording of Act 3 is thought to be lost.
