An umbrella used as a fake bone in a man's body?
Yup, that's part of yet another bizarre opening scene. CSI is tremendous at doing that. Here, Medical Examiner "Doc Robbins" has a dead man who has pipes for bones and an umbrella for another bone. (I guess he ran out of pipes.) The body also has been completely stapled up. It appears most of his body parts, including his bones, are missing.
That's all part of a mortuary/body parts scam, which is one of the stories here.
The second story involves a married lady found dead in her dwelling. She had been seeing a younger man in a "relationship" escort service. That's not the normal "escort service:" this is one without any sex, just a relationship. The ending to this story is a shocker.
Much of the middle segment of this episode is just so-so but it really picks up with some interesting revelations in the last dozen minutes. The man who harvests the illegal body parts is played by veteran Gordon Clapp, a very good actor who received notoriety as "Det. Greg Medavoy" in "NYPD Blue."
Finally, in the end, we have another mystery. Apparently, "Keppler" has some ghosts in his past. I assume, with series star "Grissom" coming back in another two weeks, that this personal problem of Keppler's will be dealt with next week.
