Captain Paulsen steers the MS Deutschland to mysterious Burma (Myanmar), and warmly welcomes cruise director Beatrice back after her holiday, but she's uneasy finding her resort admirer boarded as passenger, eager to court her further, so she compromises the captain and others by involving them unasked in ploys to avoid her lover, even joining a Buddhist temple retreat. Passenger Hans Berger planned to tell his wife and teen daughter Marie about his illegitimate daughter, who is on the crew, but is mistaken by Marie for an adulterous lover. Marie's jealousy spoils her relationship with the suave ship pianist.
