Rick and Morty is one of the most out-of-the-box shows out there. From fake vats of acid to snake jazz and even fascist shrimps, it is safe to say that no other show could compete with such interesting streams of creativity. It is due to this aspect that the series has never been accused of taking inspiration from elsewhere.
While it does frequently call itself out on moments where it is imitating other popular television and film moments, this didn’t happen every time. In an interview, the creator of the series confessed that one of the most iconic episodes from the show was inspired by another television classic.
It would seem that the Pickle Rick episode was inspired by Breaking Bad, and the reasoning is extremely interesting.

Guillermo del Toro is busy with Netflix’s Frankenstein now, but the filmmaker’s most underrated monster work is The Strain. The FX TV show ran for four seasons and explored a world affected by a vampire virus. It was based on del Toro’s novel series, which he co-wrote with Chuck Hogan.
One of the most popular characters in the franchise is Quinlan, the vampire-human hybrid son of The Master and his arch-nemesis. While fans thought Vaun was Quinlan, actor Rupert Penry-Jones joined the show as the vampire/human in season 2. However, the actor was reportedly hesitant to play the role when he went through the novels.

An actor who decides to direct may inspire an eyeroll: Well, of course they can. After leading a hit show, what producer will say no?
A powerful actor who wants to direct has an advantage others won’t. At the same time, to become directors Tyler James Williams, Ayo Edebiri, Jason Bateman, and Rhea Seehorn had to be willing to step away from the comfort zone of their expertise and see themselves as beginners.
They also took advantage of a Hollywood truism: People work with people they know, and the only way to make yourself known is to be excellent around the people who can hire you to do the work. It’s the same logic that creates a script supervisor-director (Karyn Kusama), a Pa-producer (Kevin Feige), or an art coordinator-Oscar-winning production designer (Hannah Beachler).
Here’s what these actors say they learned while making the transition.

Known for his imaginative storytelling and distinct visual style, Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is listed among some of the best filmmakers that Hollywood has to offer today. When a movie has his name attached to it or has his stamp of approval, you know it is going to be a treat to watch. And if you have ever heard the man speak about cinema and filmmaking, it is quite obvious that his love for storytelling transcends bounds.
However, despite his excellence, Guillermo del Toro likes to keep things a little humble. While his movies may be marketed as having been helmed under his brilliance, he believes that there is more to a project than just the people attached to it.

If TV were a poker table, Taylor Sheridan wouldn’t just be holding all the aces; he’d be the guy who built the casino. But lately, whispers of discord are rustling: Paramount is reportedly tightening its purse strings, and Sheridan’s empire might just be chomping at the bit to find greener pastures. And let us say it plain, he isn’t the guy who makes small. His shows are cinematic epics disguised as television. Yellowstone didn’t just put Paramount+ on the map; it was the map.
With Yellowstone, 1923 season 1 & 2 winding down and budgets shrinking, we can’t help but wonder: where’s the next corral for this creative maverick? Spoiler: it’s not HBO, which once fumbled Yellowstone like a rookie at a rodeo. We’re betting on AMC Studios, home to Breaking Bad and Mad Men, a place where Sheridan’s raw, soul-gripping tales could strike gold again.

Endings. Endings. Endings. It’s not a good feeling when a show that you very much like reaches its finale. That’s where several shows and movies fail miserably, and they go from the best thing you’d ever see to the worst show in all of humanity (*cough* Game of Thrones).
Well, another show that has been doing so great so far is Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys, and that has me worried. With 4 iconic seasons to its name, the show has received worldwide fame and acclaim, and the final season is upon us. So naturally, we decided to write an article on how The Boys could screw it up (hopefully not).
The Boys can have three terrible endings
The obvious choice would be Antony Starr’s Homelander winning it all (and that would be an amazing ending), but for the sake of this article, we will be eliminating that potential ending.

Led by “Severance” star Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, “Reykjavic Fusion,” one of the highest-profile competition contenders at France’s Canneseries, is described by executive producer Erik Barmack of Wild Sheep Content as “‘Breaking Bad’ meets ‘The Bear.’”
When protagonist Jónas, a gifted chef imprisoned supposedly for tax fraud, gets out and opens a restaurant backed by a crime lord, his life becomes a daily exercise in damage control, as his life spirals into crime.
All Jonas wants is to develop his passion for haute cuisine, featuring “Icelandic ingredients cooked Asian style, with all kinds of secret twists,” as he explains to his fellow cons. But he’s soon a reluctant accomplice to murder and drowning with debt, jeopardizing his parole, life, and loved ones.
Chic, sleak, fast-paced, packed with action near unprecedented in Icelandic series such as car chases, “Rekjavik Fusion” plays out on a far larger canvas than nearly all Icelandic series.

Breaking Bad wasn’t just a series. It was a story about a man who was so prideful that pride… became his downfall. It started just like it ended, with blood on Walter White’s hands over the case of methamphetamine.
Although Bryan Cranston’s on-screen character Walter White was suffering from lung cancer, he didn’t run an entire meth empire just to get money for his treatment. He did it for himself.
Bryan Cranston’s Walter White did it for his family
The series opens with Bryan Cranston teaching chemistry to his students and later working at a car wash. The gas and chemical compounds cause him to cough, and he is later diagnosed with lung cancer.

When he goes on a drug bust with his brother-in-law, he sees Jesse Pinkman who was one of his former students.

What if superheroes were just attention-hungry influencers in capes, controlled by their PR firms? Welcome to The Boys, one of the wildest and grittiest shows of our time, which paints a picture of what happens when fame and power collide. Instead of saving the day with noble hearts, most of the ‘heroes’ in the series are selfish, broken, and manipulated by companies.
Over the years, The Boys has built a reputation for featuring political and social satires and diving headfirst into mocking pop culture. The show has held up a mirror to our celebrity-obsessed culture multiple times. So let’s look at a few moments of their razor-sharp wit and what we can expect to see next on the show.

The Only Living Pickpocket in New York is an upcoming drama film from T-Street Productions starring John Turturro as a career pickpocket forced into a high-stakes situation. The film has recently added Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Steve Buscemi (Wednesday), and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) to the cast.
Per Deadline, Esposito, Buscemi, and Maslany have joined the cast, though their roles remain undisclosed. The film follows Turturro's character, Harry, in a desperate race against time through the streets of New York City. Turturro most recently starred as Irving in the hit Apple TV series Severance. His performance, as well as those of his cast members, along with the magnetic writing on the Ben Stiller-created series, led to a rapid third season renewal for the show.

With popular K-pop idols often turning out to be addicts dependent on performance enhancers, violent criminal gangs creating a network of supply lines in and out of the country, legal and civil administrations cracking down on the dealers’ chain of command, and officers using drug-bust operations to rapidly make their way up their career ladder, the South Korean drug scene is intriguing enough to warrant a crime thriller treatment. However, South Korean director Hwang Byeong-guk’s Yadang: The Snitch is more than a basic crime thriller; it is an acknowledgement of the loss of faith in institutions that assume the power of kingmaker—only to abuse it by exploiting the powerless. Instead of adopting the usual gritty tone that is common in this kind of narrative, there is a unique blend of the somber and the humorous timbre, which works surprisingly well thanks to engaging characterization and emotional dynamics explored in the story.

A chorus line of past presidents from past years showed up via old video to give an edited mash-up speech, but there was no current Potus, no VP, no roast by a comedian and few Hollywood power players at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner tonight in Washington DC.
Yet, with Donald Trump still yet to make his Whcd debut as president, White House Correspondents’ Association president Eugene Daniels had no intention of burying the lede Saturday of the barricades up between the current White House and institutional media in America. “We journalists are a lot of things,“ Daniels exclaimed to a standing ovation in his First Amendment celebrating closing remarks on this 96th day of Trump 2.0. “What we are not is the opposition. What we are not is the enemy of the people, and what we are not is the enemy of the state.”

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner could have certainly used a palate cleanser ahead of the big fete tonight.
Ahead of the annual event this year, comedian Amber Ruffin was unexpectedly pulled as the headlining entertainer of the night. Additionally, President Donald Trump will not be in attendance; he did not go to the event all four years during his last term.
The yearly tradition is a fundraising event for the Whca, supporting the journalists that cover Washington, D.C. and the presidential administration, providing scholarships for the next generation of reporters and highlighting the necessity of the First Amendment. It also typically features a comic that ribs/roasts the current Potus. The night also often draws a slew of Hollywood A-listers, though this year’s attendance is likely to be scant.

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is known for directing movies with some of the most outlandish fantasy concepts. However, the director manages to bring a certain pathos to characters, which makes his stories deeply resonant. At the same time, del Toro is also an avid film and television buff, often sharing his thoughts on social media.
One of the most popular social media debates of the past decade has been the constant comparisons between Breaking Bad and its spin-off/prequel, Better Call Saul. Del Toro also chimed in on the debate, sharing his view on why the latter series was superior, and it is hard to argue with his logic. Here is why I agree with Guillermo del Toro’s assessment of the Vince Gilligan shows.

To say that Vince Gilligan is a genius would be an understatement. However, to say that Gilligan has never used lazy plot devices to get his story further would not be true either.

Bill Hader is no stranger to venturing into the darker side of television; in fact, he loves it. He’s tackled everything from comedy and drama to horror, with great success, but what we haven’t seen him tackle is what he names as one of his favorite genres: true crime. That’s about to change, though, according to Variety, who first reported that HBO is set to develop Hader’s new series centered on the story of Reverend Jim Jones, his people, and the horrific events that took place at the Peoples Temple Agricultural Project, a.k.a. the Jonestown Massacre.

In the wake of David Lynch’s death in January 2025, fans are revising the legendary director’s work, and his rare moments behind the scenes. Known for his calm and quirky personality and mind-bending movies like Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet, and Twin Peaks, Lynch was usually the quiet force behind the camera.
However, a resurfaced behind-the-scenes clip of the filmmaker is going viral, capturing a rare and explosive moment on set. The late director, with his normally soft-spoken demeanor. Watch the video where Lynch was having none of it.

Max has currently been the bee’s knees when it comes to revered TV hits, and while The Last of Us season 2 and The White Lotus have been the talk of the town for obvious reasons, in third place, it’s the Danny McBride comedy. Since its inception back in 2019, The Righteous Gemstones has been doing solid numbers, both in terms of ratings and viewership.
But with its fourth season, the show has elevated to new heights, leaving behind several HBO juggernauts, and considering its final installment in the series, the reception is not surprising.

Getting endings right can be quite tricky, as on one hand, shows like Breaking Bad and The Sopranos knew when to pump the brakes, on the flip side, many major IPs tend to drop the ball in this aspect.

Hunger Games fans, gather around because Panem is about to get a fresh jolt of star power. The upcoming prequel, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, has just dropped a casting bombshell: Jesse Plemons. One of Hollywood’s most electrifying talents is stepping into the role of a young Plutarch Heavensbee.
This iconic character, originally brought to life by the legendary Philip Seymour Hoffman in Catching Fire and Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2, is getting a new spin. Plemons is ready to light up the Capitol with his brand of brilliance. With Lionsgate hyping this as a tribute to Hoffman’s legacy, the stage is set for a cinematic showdown with fans buzzing like a swarm of tracker jackers.

Lionsgate isn't messing around when it comes to getting its latest "Hunger Games" prequel film, "Sunrise on the Reaping," ready for production. Even though the most recent book in Suzanne Collins' wildly popular series only recently hit shelves, the studio is well underway on an adaptation of said novel for the big screen. Now, we have word that one of the most important roles in the upcoming prequel has been filled, and it's a pitch-perfect bit of casting.
Thanks to a post on the official "Hunger Games" social media accounts, it's been revealed that Jesse Plemons has been cast as a young Plutarch Heavensbee. The character was originally played by the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman (beginning in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"). The "Mockingjay" movies served as Hoffman's final credits before his passing.
Plemons actually played Hoffman's son previously in Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master," and that worked out quite well.

The cast for the next installment in Lionsgate's The Hunger Games franchise continues to grow. Another well-known actor has boarded the prequel Sunrise on the Reaping, which will be based on the bestselling book of the same name by Suzanne Collins.
Per Deadline, Oscar nominee Jesse Plemons has been cast as a young Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games prequel. He will succeed the late Philip Seymour Hoffman in the role, who played the Head Gamemaker and rebellion leader in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Parts 1 and 2, the latter two of which served as his final film roles. Most moviegoers will likely agree that Plemons is the perfect choice to portray a young Plutarch, since many have noted online how there is a strong physical resemblance between the actor and Hoffman.

Cannes — Soo Hugh, the showrunner of “Pachinko,” is advancing on multiple projects with a view to co-producing with or shooting in Korea or teaming with a Korean partner, she told on the eve of France’s Canneseries TV festival where she is serving on the main jury and was the subject of a Meet With keynote on April 25.
The Korean connection seems only natural. Hugh first made a large impact with AMC’s 2018 supernatural survival thriller “The Terror” Season 1, co-showrun with David Kajganich and set in the Arctic over 1845-48.
She then garnered glowing reviews for Apple TV+’s “Pachinko,” a series made with extraordinary sweep tracing down the generations from 1915 Korea under Japanese thrall to 1989 Japan the story of a family of Zainichi – Koreans who lost everything under Japanese rule and were forced to emigrate to Japan as second-class citizens.

It’s been a while since we’ve gotten any official updates on Marvel’s planned Blade reboot movie, which was originally announced way back in 2019. While Wesley Snipes did reprise his iconic role as New Line’s Daywalker in Deadpool & Wolverine last year, the character’s official introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe still seems to be no closer to reality.
It’s no secret that the brand new Blade movie has been bumped all over the release calendar the last several years, and it’s currently without a date at all after getting pulled from its most recent theatrical release date of November 7, 2025. Not helping is that the movie is without a director at the moment, with Yann Demange (“Lovecraft Country”) departing the project in the wake of Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) exiting the film back in 2022.
Mahershala Ali was attached to play the title character, with...

Giancarlo Esposito will always be known for his role as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad, but the five-time Emmy Award nominee has a new show on Netflix that’s dominating streaming charts. Esposito stars alongside Randall Park and Uzo Aduba in The Residence, the latest screwball comedy/whodunnit mystery streaming on Netflix. The show follows White House staff workers and the lives they share with the First Family. All eight episodes of The Residence dropped on Netflix more than a month ago (March 20), and although it took some time, the series has infiltrated the Netflix top 10, sitting at #8 at the time of writing. It also stars Molly Griggs and Ken Marino and earned solid scores of 85% from critics and 77% from audiences on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes.

Once upon a time, the phrase “nepo baby” was seen as derogatory.
Coined by combining the words “nepotism” and “baby,” it means the subject is a child of influential people in an industry and has (allegedly) benefited from these connections.
Nepo babies who wanted to go into the same field as their parents would go to great lengths to hide their privilege. Some would even change their names to avoid outing themselves.
(Fabio Lovino/HBO)
The name is still not a term of endearment to some extent, but a current crop of nepo babies is challenging this stigma.
The actors in this list have proven that being the child of a talented performer should not be used as a metric to discount someone, and everyone should be judged by their work.
This list focuses on their work on television, but some have ventured beyond the medium and are killing it in music and film.

All the new movies coming out in recent years are aiming to be critically praised, but some films defy the odds—they don’t really care about IMDb scores but rather serve as a source for people to have fun. Think about it—how many times have you watched a movie, had a blast, and then checked the IMDb score only to find a mediocre number?
Many films out there get roasted by critics but still manage to rack up millions. And sometimes, who doesn’t love over-the-top, CGI-packed movies—types of films that make you roll on the floor laughing? There are many films starring actors like Adam Sandler and Will Ferrell that somehow manage to rank low on IMDb, yet grip the audience from start to end.
So, this list will not be about movies that are bad in any way; it’s about the ones that, despite all their flaws,...

Sebastian Stan didn’t stumble into the MCU—he crash-landed into pop culture history. Sure, today he’s a household name as Bucky Barnes, the brooding bad boy with a vibranium arm and a whole lotta trauma. But before Marvel came knocking, Sebastian Stan was just another working actor hustling through the grind—one audition at a time. Living paycheck to paycheck wasn’t a phase; it was his reality. Just another actor swimming in the deep end of Hollywood, hoping not to drown.
Then bam!—Marvel rolls out the red carpet. Enter Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), and suddenly Stan’s career hits the kind of glow-up most actors would sell their soul for. He kept the hits coming with Civil War (2016), Infinity War (2018), and the grand finale, Endgame (2019).
But here’s the kicker: back in the day, actors used to get a nice little thank-you in the form...

Every great series has a moment that defines it. There’s the Red Wedding in Game of Thrones, and Breaking Bad had Walter White’s “Say my name.” The Last of Us has two. Mikey Madison is blocking the Force!
Ryan Gosling is all set to make waves in the film industry as it has been revealed that the actor will soon be a part of the Star Wars universe. Needless to say, this is a huge feat, and we cannot wait to see what the fictional world has in store for Ryan Gosling. Although we are pretty sure that he is going to nail whatever life and Lucasfilm throw at him.
Being a part of the Star Wars world is not an easy decision to make because once you get in, it’s going to be difficult to get out. Perhaps this is why five Hollywood stars have reportedly refused to star in Shawn Levy’s upcoming movie, including Mikey Madison.

Can you believe it’s been nearly a decade since Don Draper meditated his way into creating the most legendary Coke ad in TV history? Mad Men wrapped up in 2015, but its cast? Still everywhere, some in your favorite shows, others totally off the radar. From high-fashion red carpets to indie film sets to unexpected career pivots, this crew didn’t just fade into the smoke-filled offices of Sterling Cooper.
Jon Hamm went full Hollywood heartthrob, Elisabeth Moss kept dominating TV like a boss, and January Jones, well, she’s still keeping us guessing on Instagram. The drama might’ve ended, but we’re still obsessed with where everyone ended up. If you ever wondered what Peggy, Roger, or even little Sally Draper are doing in 2025, you’re in the right place. Warning, this may spark a sudden urge to rewatch all seven seasons. Martini not included.

When Better Call Saul wrapped, it didn’t just hang up the phone, it broke the whole damn line. What started as a wild idea, a spin-off about a sleazy, two-bit criminal lawyer who once offered nail salon consultations and burner phones. Turned into one of the finest pieces of television this side of Albuquerque. Better Call Saul may have begun as the sideshow to Breaking Bad’s meth-fueled circus, but over six gripping seasons, it cooked up its own brand of greatness—layered, tragic, stylish, and criminally good.
Let’s be real: nobody expected Jimmy McGill, aka Saul Goodman, aka Gene Takavic, to carry the torch after Walter White blew up the desert. But not only did he carry it—he damn near lit up the whole TV landscape. Against all odds (and DEA agents), Better Call Saul managed to match and, in some ways, outshine Breaking Bad, delivering...

Aired between 1999 and 2007 on HBO, The Sopranos has become a landmark in television history, often hailed as the show that redefined modern TV drama. The storyline was intricate with a New Jersey mob boss, Tony Soprano – played by James Gandolfini – taking the center stage.
But what made the series super successful was its attention to detail and well-crafted script. Tony isn’t your typical gangster-gangster. He is a middle-aged man seeking therapy, trying to deal with the personal and professional pressures of running a criminal empire.
Within a short span, the series became a massive hit with a cult following even today, 16 years after its last season. However, The Sopranos received an ambiguous ending, despite HBO offering more money to continue. David Chase voluntarily chose to end the series and was indifferent towards the cancellation, contrasting sharply with Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner’s emotional response.

As reflected by its declining ratings in its later seasons, most "The Walking Dead" viewers can pinpoint the moment where they gave up on the show. For many, it's Lucille's reign of terror against Glenn (Steven Yeun) in the season 7 premiere. For others, it's the untimely demise of that kid with the silly hat (also known as Carl). However, my personal breaking point is fairly rare among the fandom: I first stopped watching after the death of Denise (Merritt Wever).
Denise rarely makes the top of any fan's favorite character list, but I like her because of how much she seems like a real person. Most of the characters on this show are cool in a way that feels cinematic, whereas Denise (with her anxiety issues and her nerdy interests) comes across as a person from the real world. She's someone who was probably destined to become a librarian,...
