It’s now been ten years since the most recent installment in the RoboCop franchise, that film of course being the 2014 remake, but the property certainly hasn’t gone anywhere in the years since. For starters, video game RoboCop: Rogue City released last year, and the comprehensive documentary series RoboDoc was released onto Screambox last year as well.
Deadline now reports today that Amazon MGM Studios is moving forward with their planned RoboCop television series, with horror master James Wan on board to executive produce.
Wan will produce through his label Atomic Monster.
Peter Ocko (Lodge 49) has also been brought on board as the writer, executive producer and showrunner on the project, which we originally heard rumblings about back in 2023.
Deadline details, “The series will follow the premise of the films, focusing on a giant tech conglomerate which collaborates with the local police department to introduce a technologically advanced enforcer...

RoboCop became both a blockbuster and a controversial critical darling upon its release in 1987 due to a mix of jet black humor and as subtle as a jackhammer social commentary sticking a perfect landing. Its success was a surprise to an industry that had looked at Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner’s original script with its simplistic one-word comic book title and assumed it was fated to be a high-concept stinker.
The 2023 RoboDoc documentary miniseries does a terrific job of chronicling the effort it took to turn RoboCop into both a box office win and an enduring cult masterpiece with a quick and funny format that makes it accessible to modern fans. The truly hardcore might not learn many new details from the four-hour presentation, available on Tubi, but one thing the documentary does do, especially after the Catholic satire of Benedetta, is make it clear how much of RoboCop...

It is 36 years since RoboCop blasted its way onto UK cinema screens and made a splash of epic, gruesome, proportions. With that a cult-like following is born and the film’s influence cannot be overstated.
RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop is an incredibly methodical ‘making of’ documentary that has now set the standard and an exceptionally high one, no less. It comes as no surprise with the success of their recent projects which include Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story and Pennywise: The Story of It.
The documentary oozes passion and is testament to its directors Christopher Griffiths and Eastwood Allen clear love for the film in a project that has been over seven years in the making.
This four part series spans over more than four hours is nothing short of a triumph, it is forensic in its analysis and brings to life the chaos of the RoboCop shoot and does so brilliantly.

It’s been another blockbuster year for horror, but then again it always feels like that. Superhero fatigue has set in and major franchise pictures haven’t returned as expected, but horror, as ever, always seems to reach new heights. The news in 2023 may have been a load of gout, but the horror has been pure gold.
So, without further ado, here is a list of my top 10 of 2023.
RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop
Arrow Films, Vinegar Syndrome and others who have perfected the art of producing feature-length behind the scenes documentaries really have their work cut out for them thanks to RoboDoc. RoboDoc has broken the mould by creating an in-depth documentary that takes you through the entire film scene-by-scene. RoboDoc combines a retrospective documentary, director’s commentary and behind the scenes features into one glorious 4-part series.

We’re big fans of Aardman Animation here at Film Stories Towers. With the new Chicken Run sequel out soon, this week’s film quiz covers their cracking canon to date…
Why did the chicken cross the road? Well, since Netflix has cracked down on password-sharing, it’s might go and watch Chicken Run: Dawn Of The Nugget at a mate’s house when the long-awaited sequel drops next week. It’s also in selected cinemas throughout the UK today, but whenever you’re watching it, we’ve got some Aardman-themed quiz questions to keep you going.
Once you’ve completed all three rounds, you’ll find a link to a separate post with the correct answers at the bottom of this post. As always, this is just for fun, but please let us know how you did in the comments (scores out of 30 this week!) and give us any other lovely feedback.

It’s been a big year for RoboCop, with the new documentary RoboDoc now streaming on Screambox and the video game RoboCop: Rogue City now available on consoles and PC.
Originally revealed at San Diego Comic Con over the summer, a new RoboCop action figure is even on the way from Neca, though this one is a bit different from the norm.
It’s not a RoboCop figure, it’s actually a Neca Alex Murphy figure!
Depicting Peter Weller Before he was reborn, the figure is based on Murphy’s gruesome murder in the original classic, featuring alternate heads and battle-damaged gore effects.
An alternate chest piece is riddled with bullet wounds, for starters, while an alternate half-arm allows you to recreate Alex Murphy’s bloody dismemberment from the movie.
Neca explains, “This Ultimate figure is highly articulated and comes packed with accessories: interchangeable battle-damaged bulletproof vest, battle-damaged right arm,...

The fan-funded, four-part docuseries RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop is available to watch through the Screambox streaming service, and has also received a Blu-ray release. As fans watch the docuseries, it seems the most popular, standout moment is a sequence where weapons master Randy E. Moore talks about interacting with RoboCop star Peter Weller while holding a stack of Oreos. You can watch that clip in this embed:

RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop documentary is getting sequels that cover RoboCop 2, 3, & TV series
The fan-funded, four-part docuseries RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop was acquired by Cinedigm last year, and the company gave it both a Blu-ray release (you can pick up a copy Here) and a streaming release, through the Screambox streaming service. Directed by Chris Griffiths and Eastwood Allen, RoboDoc focuses primarily on the first RoboCop, but does give a nod to RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3. And if any fans were disappointed that the sequels didn’t get enough coverage, the makers of the documentary have shared some very cool news: RoboDoc is getting its own sequels, which will cover RoboCop 2, RoboCop 3, and even the RoboCop TV series!
The first follow-up will be called RoboDoc Season 2: RoboCop 2, and it’s already expected to be released sometime in late 2024. Then sometime not too far down the line we’ll get RoboDoc Season 3: RoboCop 3 and the TV Series.

The BluRay contains about another hour of footage. This expands on some aspects of the documentary. The segment on the first RoboCop computer game covers a number of reasons for the film's importance to the games industry. It helps place RoboCop in context. There are a few bits of interview that wouldn't have fitted neatly into RoboDoc and there are a few bits of filler. The artwork used for the BluRay feels quite reminiscent of the RoboCop comics....

Does any film really need a full six-hour documentary devoted to it? Honestly, you would be hard-pressed to think of one single film that deserves a multi-episode docuseries analyzing every aspect of its creation. And yet, the filmmakers behind “RoboDoc – The Creation of RoboCop” did just that. And you know what? It’s fucking glorious. Gratuitous? Yes. Incredibly nerdy? Most definitely. But if you’re a huge fan of “RoboCop” or looking for a deep dive into the process of feature-filmmaking, then you’ll gleefully watch six hours of this series and then wonder if there could have been more.

We’ll have to wait a little longer before we can start serving the public trust in RoboCop: Rogue City. Developer Teyon took to X/Twitter to announce that the game will be pushed back from its original September release for PC and consoles to a more definitive November 2.
This delay comes after Teyon had shown off a new gameplay trailer, along with several minutes of gameplay footage, at Gamescom last week. Furthermore, no mention of the delay was made last week. The developer also didn’t explain the reasoning for the delay, though given how stacked September and October are with highly-anticipated titles, it’s probably not a stretch to have that as a reason for Rogue City‘s delay.
Rogue City will take place between RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3, and sees RoboCop (played once again by Peter Weller) investigating a series of crimes in Detroit, along with...

Part man, part machine, all cop, RoboCop burst onto the scene as the cinematic landscape began to shift and artificial intelligence was capturing the public’s imagination. The boundary-pushing film spawned an unlikely franchise that includes two sequels, an animated series, and a Hollywood remake, along with comic books, video games, toys, and merchandise galore.

"When police raid a house in El Paso, they find it full of dead Latinos, and only one survivor. He’s known as The Traveler, and when they take him to the station for questioning he tells them those lands are full of magic and talks about the horrors he’s encountered in his long time on this earth, about portals to other worlds, mythical creatures, demons and the undead. Stories about Latin American legends."

"Horror chose me... It's unique that my biggest success has been in the horror genre." Cult Screenings has debuted two teaser trailers for their latest project - Icon: The Robert Englund Story. As that title very clearly indicates, this is a documentary about horror icon Robert Englund, the American actor who played the role of Freddy Kreuger in the beloved horror franchise A Nightmare on Elm Street. It's made by the same team behind the RoboDoc, and Pennywise doc, and it's launching on Indiegogo next month to finish up with funding so it can be released soon (likely in 2020 but maybe even later this year if they pull it off). "This documentary will explore who the man behind the mask truly is, charting his early days in TV and film to his current stratospheric status in the horror universe." I'm glad to see this doc covering his entire career, and all of his different roles,...

If you’re a fan of director Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 film RoboCop, you’ll be happy to learn that a documentary that was kickstarted back in 2016 called RoboDoc: The Creation of RobCop is in the process of being completed and will be released next year so I thought now would be a good time to share a lengthy trailer for the film that was released last year.
Robocop is a movie that impacted a generation, particularly young boys who were too young to watch it in the first place. RoboDoc is a feature length fan-funded documentary exploring the making of the 1987 cult-classic, the sequels and its 30 year legacy.
I first saw RoboCop when I was around 12 or 13 years old with my friends when the parents weren’t around and I was in awe of how much bloody violence was in that film! Hell, I had RoboCop action figure before I had ever seen the movie!

Lil Wayne was a hot topic for conversation on and off of Twitter today now that he's out of lock-up. Donald Glover hopes someone was able to get a picture, while Marlon Wayans sounded skeptical, and David Faustino expects big things for Weezy tonight at his post-prison release party.
Halloween costume pictures have still be showing up as well, and you can find Billy Burke and Jason Mewes sharing what they wore after the jump. They're there along with Stephen Colbert's thoughts on Prop 19 failing in California, Elizabeth Banks with a face from "Lost" and the shooting location where you might have seen Emmy Rossum working today.

Gary Coleman's death stirred up posts throughout Twitter-Wood this afternoon, both with positive remembrances and commentary on the lifelong issues that childhood actors can face. Ashton Kutcher, Shannon Elizabeth, Tom Arnold and Eliza Dushku counted themselves among Coleman's fans, and many others acknowledged their appreciation for his work as Arnold on "Diff'rent Strokes."
John Stamos touched on the more serious issues in Coleman's in life in his Twitter note, and Ken Jeong and Jon Hurwitz both left simpler notes. Click on past the jump and you can find out who else posted about Coleman. Feel free to leave your own responses and memories in the comment section.

Happy Cinco de Mayo from Twitter-Wood, everyone. Former Bundy kids Christina Applegate and David Faustino also have wishes for you on this wonderful holiday. Applegate included an extra word of caution if you happen to celebrating in Arizona, advice which Ice-t might agree with, judging from his recent tweets.
Meanwhile on the East Coast, Seth Meyers is getting fired up for "Saturday Night Live" with guest host Betty White this weekend. He had good things to say about her, as did Christopher Mintz-Plasse about his presentation gig at the MTV Movie Awards. Damon Lindelof was a tad less upbeat about "Lost" getting over with. You can read his decidedly more melancholy post and find out who forgot to celebrate "Star Wars" Day yesterday. It's all been retweeted after the jump in Twitter-Wood for May 5, 2010.

Hip-hop and jazz innovator Guru, who was best known as half of the duo Gang Starr, shocked a noticeable contingent in Twitter-Wood today as news of his death at the age of 43 traveled around. Ice-t, Andy Milonakis and Mark Webber were among those posting condolences.

Oh, Corin Nemec. He soared to great heights with Parker Lewis Can't Lose, before quickly losing his tenuous grip on superstardom. But he never really went away on the big or small screen. We can't forget his classic Operation Dumbo Drop, Stargate Sg-1, or National Lampoon's Robodoc -- a film he not only starred in, but also produced.
But back in the day -- the early '90s to be exact -- things were going well. He'd had a big role in Francis Ford Coppola's Tucker: The Man and His Dream, was starring in a hit teen show, and had fancy technology coming to chill in "At Home with Corky Nemec." This super-strange interview, which you can see after the jump, sees the actor show his living room, kitchen, and bedroom. But it's not just some simple, boring Q&A.
