Although not mentioned in the episode (for reasons still unknown), the "Killer Cable Snaps" myth was infamously depicted in the opening scene of the horror movie Ghost Ship (2002).
The "clay pot as recording media" myth that Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara investigated in the "Pottery Record" segment was previously used as a plot device in Hollywood A.D. (2000) and Committed (2005). The MythBusters determined that it was so unlikely as to be impossible.
