- Casey Taylor, dying of Muscular Dystrophy, returns to the ED, his condition having deteriorated badly since the last time we saw him [episode 9.30]. His father, Paul, is still refusing to accept that the end is near for his son. Frank is faced with the difficult task of trying to convince Paul that he should give his son permission to die. Vincent returns from an MRU call out with a distraught man who, somehow, managed to get his leg caught in the conveyor belt mechanism of an automatic car wash. Vincent has done what he can to save Lane's leg but, in order to avoid amputation, it is critical that he get to theatre ASAP. The man, however, is determined to sort out his personal life before that happens. But that proves to be far more complicated than anyone could have imagined. Cate arrives at work with a killer hangover and scant memory of what she actually did the night before. The day proves to be both professionally challenging as she deals with a woman who fears she is losing her baby and personally confronting as she feels the impact of her actions of the night before. Sean is not impressed with her behaviour of late but instead of his words getting through to her, they result in Cate heading off with Jo - perhaps for another night of debauchery. Meanwhile, a well dressed, well nourished, grandmotherly woman is found wandering around the hospital car park in confusion. Bart employs the skills he learned on his psych rotation but there is obviously more to this situation than meets the eye. Zoe draws on a secret from her past to solve a medical mystery. Jack sits his surgeon's examination. He is reasonably confident, never a good state in which to enter an examination room.
