According to the internet, the documentary Rollerboy (which screened in Australia yesterday) is about Jayson Sutcliffe, an roller skater who “channels superheroes and Kylie Minogue,” having spent twenty years “challenging the stereotypes and conventions of the skating world, his pursuit of gold and glory fueled by an insatiable quest for fame and a deep personal secret that drives his alter ego to achieve his dream at all costs.” He’s now thirty-five years old and lives at home with his parents, which begs the question: should he retire? Answer? No. No No No. Let’s keep …whatever this is… happening at all costs! He can move in with us if he wants!

Here's what the Sff Program says about the film: In late-70s Melbourne, roller skating was the thing to do and young Jayson Sutcliffe blitzed the competition. At 15 he was Junior World Champion, but as an adult competing against his hero, Scott Cohen, he faltered. Jayson, however, was no quitter; he continued practising till his feet bled. His lycra outfits became increasingly flamboyant and his performances more winning and innovative. But meanwhile, off the rink he was struggling. Jayson's rollercoaster career with its spectacular highs and lows is illustrated with extensive footage and revealing interviews from the Rollerboy himself (who is also co-director).
