Exposing a problem we still deal with today.
When the show begins, a young man, Eddie, is in Captain Braddock's office. He wants to turn himself in to the police but the desk sergeant set him instead to talk to the Captain (Reed Hadley). This is because Eddie thinks he's in trouble--though in reality he's been a victim of con artists. It seems that in the past, Eddie was in trouble and was placed on probation. Although he's avoided trouble since, when he was driving his car, an old lady jumped out in front of him and he hit her. The several witnesses who said they saw this blame Eddie and he gives a false name to them because he's afraid his old record will catch up with him. However, the lady was no lady--she and the witnesses were all part of a gang who set up Eddie in order to fleece him of his money. Naturally, the avuncular Captain helps Eddie out of this jam and brings the truth to light.
Fake accidents are still a problem, so this show is particularly timely then as well as now. In addition, you like Eddie and feel sorry for his predicament and the criminals are real jerks! Well worth your time.
