Wreckage (2010)
Directed by: John Asher
Written by: David Frigerio
Cast: Aaron Paul (Rick), Mike Erwin (Jared), Cameron Richardson (Kate), Scoot McNairy (Frank), Kelly Kruger (Jessica), Roger Perry (Sheriff Macabee), John Asher (Deputy Berry), Lisa Ann Walter (Doctor Richardson)
Cult horror movies that have actors in them that go on to mega stardom create a separate category all their own. Kevin Bacon in “Friday the 13th”, George Clooney in “Horror High”, and Johnny Depp in the original “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. I don’t know what it is, but it ruins it for me a little bit, because when I watch the movie thereafter, that’s all I see. Then there are the films that might have been buried before (sometimes for good reason), but enjoy a resurrection, and maybe even a redesigned cover with the now famous star’s name displayed prominently, even...

Just as the cast of Taken 3 starts coming together, the news has emerged that there's even more Bryan Mills headkickery in the works. This is a bit different though: the project just announced is a "Naked Gun style" spoof, currently called Tooken. The screenplay is by John Asher and Cameron Van Hoy, with Asher set to direct. Asher previously made the indie comedies Somebody Marry Me and Who The F Is Buddy Applebaum, and the low-budget horror Wreckage. As an actor, he played the young Donald Sutherland in Space Cowboys, and took the Anthony Michael Hall role in the TV series of Weird Science.Van Hoy, meanwhile, produced, wrote and acted in something called Sharkproof with Jon Lovitz in 2012, and Treasure Of The Black Jaguar in 2010. Interestingly, he's also behind the spoof short film Taken 3: Back To Normal, which we can possibly now view as some sort of Tooken proof of concept.

In the more recent years, there has been a shortage of things that surprise me. Pile on some baby rape on top of that ass-to-mouth surgery — why not? Who's surprised anymore these days? Me, rarely. That is, until I read the cast list of Wreckage and discovered Aaron Paul's name in it. Didn't Aaron Paul win an Emmy? Isn't he like...successful? Why is he in a crappy VOD movie? Sometimes, no one has the answer.
When a group of teenagers' car breaks down, they head to a nearby junk yard to salvage car parts. Little do they know that an insane serial killer has escaped from prison and is lurking in the area. As the teens are stalked and hunted down one by one, what was an innocent trip turns into a...

When Wreckage first started it had me worried. The basic premise of the opening scene is two kids caught up in a shooting of their mother and her bully of a boyfriend. The thing that worried me was the acting and quality of the effects on the shooting. It just seemed to be a failed scene in what should have been the opener to lay the grounds for the movie. Not a good sign at all.
Gladly this changed quickly though as we moved on into the “years later” scenario and the story found its footing. It’s a typical tale where we are introduced to four average young people who take drive into the middle of nowhere but end up breaking down. They remember they saw a junk yard a...

Wreckage is a film that feels like the film crew drove up to a set and said: "hey, let's shoot," without a script. Unbelievably released in the United Kingdom on DVD August 23rd, Wreckage is a dismal, dismal film that is full of continuity errors, overly long and boring credit shots and characters who could never actually be police officers. This title was released by Chelsea Films and Wreckage stars Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad") and Scott McNairy (Monsters). Everyone else is forgettable. Full of writing errors, a lackadaisical approach to filmmaking, and uncompelling storytelling, Wreckage is best avoided. If only you could go back in time to get your money back.
An eight year old kills his mom and his mom's drug dealing boyfriend. Strangely, this infant is sentenced to life in prison. This reviewer is not a justice student, but generally children...

Director: John Mallory Asher. Review: Adam Wing. Wreckage is a new horror movie directed by John Mallory Asher, best known for the role of Gary Wallace in the TV version of Weird Science. It’s a shame that he didn’t spend more time watching horror movies as a teenager, because Wreckage ticks off almost every cliché in the ‘Slasher Movie Handbook’. The first character we meet is happy to get into a strangers cars in the dead of night, despite hearing on the radio that a psychopath is on the loose - she may as well have ‘victim’ tattooed on her forehead. Mobile phones have no reception, which I could understand if the movie was set on the moon, and the wreckage yard they break into was built on an Indian burial ground. It soon becomes clear that some film titles write themselves.

Dark House -- part of the Fangoria Frightfest label -- reminded me of Waxwork starring that guy from Gremlins. Meghan Ory stars as Claire Thompson, an actress who takes a job at Walston Rey's (Jeffrey Combs) newest haunted house attraction, Dark House! Filled with top of the line technology, the mainframe is possessed by an evil spirit making the hologram hooligans come to life. The best part of Dark House -- and why it reminded me of Waxwork -- is its colorful killers, my favorite is the gaysexual killer clown (see below). The flick also features One Tree Hill hottie Bevin Prince, who is also starring in the upcoming horror thriller Wreckage.

Dig Aaron Paul's criminal turn in The Last House on the Left ? The man's on the receiving end of evil this time in Wreckage . Sometimes actor, sometimes director John Mallory Asher (Jenny McCarthy's Dirty Love ) wrangles Paul and co-stars Cameron Richardson ( Harper's Island ), Kelly Kruger and Bevin Prince and tosses them in an abandoned junkyard after their car breaks down. Their problems are intensified when a serial killer escapes and begins to pick them off one by one. Get a peek at the trailer and stay tuned for more. The film is in post-production at the time of this writing.

Thorp takes action to Col
Columbia Pictures has acquired a film pitch by screenwriter Sarah Thorp for an action thriller to be produced by Original Film's Neal H. Moritz.
The story centers on a bounty hunter hired to track and bring back his ex-wife. Moritz fell for the idea of a troubled relationship at the core of a movie surrounded by humor and action.
Madhouse Entertainment's Robyn Meisinger, who reps Thorp, will executive produce.
Original's Ori Marmur brought the project in and will oversee.
Moritz's upcoming films include Columbia's thriller Vantage Point and the Patrick Dempsey romantic comedy Made of Honor as well as the Steve Carell comedy Evan Almighty and I Am Legend, starring Will Smith.
Thorp, who wrote the Ashley Judd thriller Twisted, has kept her typewriter aimed at television for the past several years, having written the pilots Crazy, which starred Lara Flynn Boyle, for UPN, and Fat Friends, for Fox.
Thorp additionally is repped by CAA.
