- A detective shadows a pair who have stolen some pearls.
- The "Countess", a smuggler, is fleeing with her two accomplices, the "Professor" and Jake. Approaching the wharf to board an outgoing steamer, they see Harry about to end his life - and decide to take him along for emergency. Harry is tapped on the head. On the boat he comes to, and thru a ventilator he finds the crew's dining room. The Countess, closely pursued by Detective Sharp, drops a box containing a valuable pearl necklace through the same ventilator. The box lands in Harry's soup. He goes to the deck to find the owner of the mysterious package, and is told that the police are hot on his trail. All attempts to rid himself of the box fail. Up to the mast, down below and over board, but never away from the terrible box- and Detective Sharp. Harry hides it in his state-room, but is found there by Sharp. The ship tilts and they go thru the wall into the Countess' state-room. The countess opens the box. Sharp is bewildered to find that it contains a lady's garter. The Countess slips the necklace into Harry's pocket just as Sharp starts to search Harry. Harry gets the best of them all, and with the Countess and the necklace makes his escape in a life-boat.—Copyright Description from Library of Congress
