- German-born philanthropist and author Jason Rafiel posthumously invites Marple, and mostly under aliases several people, on a bus tour 'vacation', having discloses in advance only to her as 'Nemesis' it's intended to solve a probable crime and see to justice. She takes along her nephew, womanizing crime author Raymond West, who flirts with foxy tour guide Georgina Barrow. On the way they find out how all these people are connected, and a few get murdered before the threads tie back to an old murder. A red thread is one baster servant girl Verity West, who went missing as novice in the war-abandoned St. Elspeth monastery visited with superior Agnes and sister Clotilde, but already in the picture in the stately basilica-style estate to be inherited by ghastly rich Amanda Dalrymple, who travels with abuse-immune lawyer and PA Derek Turnbull, the retire butler is the first poisoned victim. With only green DC and would be-author Colin Hards officially in charge, Marple and West can steer the investigation, but not prevent more bloodshed. The first arrest is that of Michael Faber, actually Jaosn's estranged son, a former POW nursed in the monastery.
