Sarah Jessica Parker has become forever linked with the iconic portrayal of Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City. Even those who never really watched the series and its spinoffs haven’t been able to escape its cultural impact. The original show ran for six seasons before spinning off into two movies and a reboot TV series.
Through all of those adventures, fans grew to love the characters of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda. It’s funny to think that none of it might have come to be if it wasn’t for Candace Bushnell’s original newspaper column, a work that cataloged her own adventures with sex and love in New York City.

Jay Leno, 72, is recovering from a recent motorcycle accident that broke several of his bones. This comes just months after he was severely burned by a gasoline fire in his garage, including third-degree burns to his face.
The talk show host said last week that he was knocked off his vintage motorcycle and injured with broken ribs and two cracked kneecaps in a crash near Burbank, California.
He explained that he was heading back to his garage on his motorcycle. “So I turn around, I start to cut through a parking lot,” Leno said. “And there was a wire across two poles which was not well marked and, boom, I just got — it clotheslined me, hit me in the neck and threw me off the bike.”
Leno said he felt somewhat guilty about getting injured so soon after recovering from his burns.

Money Court has heard its last case. CNBC has canceled the series, the news coming shortly after the cable network pulled the plug on Jay Leno’s Garage. The cancellations are part of a shift in strategy for CNBC. According to Deadline — which reported the demise of Money Court — CNBC is “moving out of original, primetime entertainment programming.” As another part of that shift, CNBC execs Denise Contis and Timothy Kuryak will exit the network, along with marketing execs and other higher-ups at the network. Contis was executive vice president and head of content for CNBC Primetime, while Kuryak was executive producer at CNBC Prime. Now CNBC will fill in the gaps in its schedule with repeats of Shark Tank, Undercover Boss, American Greed, and other shows, Deadline adds. CNBC announced Money Court in May 2021, bringing Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary, trial attorney Katie Phang, and former judge Ada Pozo...

Jay Leno was in a recent motorcycle accident that left him with several broken bones, only months after he suffered “serious burns” in a November garage car fire.
Last week (17 January), the former Tonight Show host was riding on his 1940 Indian motorcycle when he was knocked off the bike.
“I’ve got a broken collarbone. I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps,” Leno told Las Vegas Review-Journal in a new interview.
“But I’m Ok!” he reassured fans, going on to confirm that he is still “working”.
At the time, Leno, 72, said that he had been test-driving his vintage vehicle when he smelt the scent of leaking gas.
“So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it,” Leno recalled.

In a rather cold bit of news, CNBC has decided not to renew Jay Leno’s Garage for their primetime schedule, according to Deadline. CNBC’s newly appointed president, Kc Sullivan, chose not to renew the show as they plan to continue with predominantly business-related reality shows in their lineup for the primetime schedule, such as Shark Tank and Undercover Boss.
The timing is rough, as Leno had recently suffered facial burns from an accident involving gasoline spraying in his face while working on 1907 White Steam Car. “I was underneath it, trying to unclog it, and so I said, blow some air through the line. then suddenly I got a face full of gas and then the pilot light jumped and my face caught on fire.” Leno was hospitalized for his injuries but was also cleared after spending ten days at the hospital, which included skin graft surgeries.

CNBC is dropping Jay Leno’s Garage, the classic car series that capitalized on the comedian’s prized collection, after seven seasons.
The network chose not to renew the series after seven seasons, a source confirmed. Kc Sullivan, named president last year, has chosen to focus on business oriented reality shows in the primetime lineup, including Shark Tank and Undercover Boss.
But Jay Leno’s Garage, which started as a special in 2014 and became a series the next year, drew attention given Leno’s status as a former host of The Tonight Show and his ability to draw marquee guest stars, including President Joe Biden, who taped an appearance last year. In an earlier appearance, when he was serving as vice president, Biden appeared with former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

Comedian Jay Leno’s 30-year run of having a TV show on one of NBCUniversal’s TV channels appears to be ending.

President Joe Biden trekked to Beltsville, MD, this afternoon to tape an appearance with Jay Leno and his show Jay Leno’s Garage.
Biden told reporters afterward, “It was really good. It was even more fun driving my old Corvette.”
Biden went to the James J. Rowley Training Center, a Secret Service facility.
The president said that they also talked “about how electric cars are going to change the nature of our environment.”
He also said that he got to drive he Ford Lightning. “That was a fast Sob,” Biden said.
Biden has previously appeared on the show. In 2016, he and Colin Powell raced each other in their Corvettes. “I always loved to drive,” Biden said on the episode. “I shouldn’t say it on television, but I like speed.” He said that he had “buried” his Corvette once, reaching a speed of 160 mph.

In filming the surprise hit young love story “Normal People” for the BBC and Hulu, cinematographer Suzie Lavelle departed from the big-scale war dramas and multi-camera TV work she had done previously to create a more intimate, essential Irish-set story, she tells Variety.
Working with directors Hettie Macdonald (“Howards End”) and Lenny Abrahamson (“Room”), while adapting scenes from the source book by Sally Rooney, Lavelle discovered after seeing the subtle power of actors Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal that she needed to be light and quick on her feet, she says. Filming shortform episodes seemed a challenging fit for such an intense drama, says the Dp, but she came to realize that this approach actually offered real advantages.
“Normal People” screens in the EnergaCamerimage Film Festival’s First Look – TV Pilots competition in Torun, Poland this week.

Fox Television Stations will revive storied game show You Bet Your Life, with Jay Leno as host, in the fall of 2021.
The show will be carried by Fox’s owned-and-operated stations and also syndicated nationally. Tom Werner will serve as the executive producer, along with showrunner and executive producer David Hurwitz. Fox First Run will distribute the show’s 180 episodes.
“We need a familiar face to make us laugh and we are incredibly proud and excited to reinvent this renowned franchise with the enormously talented Jay,” station group CEO Jack Abernethy said in the official announcement.
Leno said one of his favorite things “is to talk to regular people and draw humor out of them. This is a comedy show wrapped in a game show that allows me to do just that.”
The new version of the show preserves the interviews and unpredictable banter with contestants, which was first brought to life by Groucho Marx.

Philadelphia punk outfit the Dead Milkmen have released their cover of Heaven 17’s 1981 song, “(We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thang,” which will appear on a new seven-inch record out Friday, August 21st, via the Giving Groove.
The Dead Milkmen’s take on “Fascist Groove Thang” finds them expertly channeling the slick post-punk beat and percolating bass of Heaven 17’s original while swapping the synths out for steady guitars and electric keys. Most important though, the Dead Milkmen keep the chorus a communal rallying cry, bellowing together, “Brothers, sisters,...

Beau Boeckmann is a custom car enthusiast who never planned on being a TV star, but ironically he somehow managed to be both. He got his start on TV back in the mid 2000s thanks to MTV’s series, Pimp My Ride. The show focused on taking a car in less than desirable condition and totally tricking it out. Cars on Pimp My Ride frequently received upgrades like new tires, rims, and electronics. Since then, Bockmann also appeared on Jay Leno’s Garage in 2017 and 2018. Most recently, he was seen in an episode of the docuseries Driven where he also

Discovery reported Thursday it had beaten Wall Street’s earnings expectations for the fourth quarter of 2019, despite lower ratings and continued cord-cutting.
Wall Street forecast earnings per share (Eps) of 93 cents on $2.87 billion in revenue, according to a consensus estimate compiled by Yahoo Finance. Discovery actually reported adjusted Eps of 98 cents on $2.874 billion in revenue, a revenue increase of 2% over 2018’s Q4.
For the three-month period ending Dec. 31, 2019, net income increased to $476 million. Growth there was thanks to lower income tax expense and restructuring charges, as well as higher revenues, which was all partially offset by an increased investment in streaming. That last point led to higher operating costs.

Deep into Rialto, Peter Mackie Burns’ sophomore feature, shy Dubliner Colm (Tom Vaughn-Lawlor) tosses something of a tagline: “We all hate our dads, it’s just natural.” Only a month has passed since Colm lost his abusive and alcoholic father, less than a week since he was fired from a low-level managerial job in Dublin’s docks that has essentially defined him for the past thirty years. It’s a statement the 46-year-old husband and father of two utters in a drunken haze, and it also singlehandedly crystallizes the whole film’s gestalt. A devastating, constrained chronicle of a middle-life crisis, Rialto homes in on a man burrowed in self-hatred and guilt, and follows him after a chance encounter forces those feelings to come to the surface with earth-shattering force.

“She was a brilliant & too-notch builder, engineer, driver, fabricator, and science communicator, & strove everyday to encourage others by her prodigious example,” Savage wrote in a tweet on Wednesday. “She was also a colleague, and we are lesser for her absence.”
Jay Leno, who hosted the driver on an episode of his CNBC show, “Jay Leno’s Garage,” also paid tribute to Combs on Twitter, writing, “Your memory lives on.”

The nonfiction categories at this year’s Emmys are filled with familiar names. In the doc series category, mainstays “30 for 30” and “American Masters” make another annual return. Films like “Free Solo,” “Minding the Gap,” “Hale County This Morning, This Evening,” and “Rbg” will be making an awards season encore after being recognized at the Oscars in February. Both of the rival streaming Fyre Festival docs picked up nominations for good measure.
But the programs in the Short-Form Nonfiction category are recognizable for another reason entirely. Aside from a few repeat contenders, every show in the 2019 slate of nominees is a behind-the-scenes offshoot of another Emmy favorite. This year’s five nominated series are “Creating Saturday Night Live,” “Pose: Identity, Family, Community (Inside Look),” the boldly-titled “Fosse/Verdon (Inside Look)” and a pair of shows from one of the reality crown jewels: “RuPaul’s Drag Race’s: Out of the Closet...

Daredevil has added Peter Halpin as Theo Nelson, the affable, younger brother of attorney Foggy Nelson. The Netflix series returns with Season 3 this Friday.
The character of Theo Nelson is as genial as his older sibling but less career-driven than Matthew Murdock’s law partner — the younger Nelson has worked his whole life with at his parents’ local business, the Hell’s Kitchen Butcher Shop in the gritty namesake New York neighborhood
The Theo Nelson character is a new addition to the Daredevil mythology — he has not previously appeared in the pages of Marvel Comics, which has published the hero’s ongoing adventures since 1964, nor in the 2003 feature film Daredevil.
Halpin launched his screen career in Angela’s Ashes, the 1999 adaptation of Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir. Halpin, a native of Limerick, Ireland, portrayed Malachy McCourt, brother of the author, in the grim New York tale directed by Alan Parker.

When you make a shit-ton of money from making Marvel movies over the past ten years, you can buy and do all kinds of cool stuff! Robert Downey Jr. happened to share his love of cars with his McU co-star Chris Evans by having a custom made 1967 Camaro Rs built for him, because that's what friends are for! Evans' car will be featured on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage, and SpeedKore vice president, David Salvaggio, who worked closely with Downey on rebuilding the car, revealed details about the badass ride. He says:...

On the big screen, they may not have the greatest working relationship, but in real life, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are bound by camaraderie.
It’s no secret that from their first meeting onward, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers haven’t exactly seen eye-to-eye, and in 2016, their mutual dislike for one another came to a head, as the Sokovia Accords drove a wedge between the two men, causing an all-out civil war between the Avengers. Shoot is due to get underway later this year on the project, adapted from O’Halloran’s play of the same name. Development was supported by the Irish Film Board (Ifb) and Roads’ facility Portico Development Fund.
Khaou’s 2014 debut Lilting, starring Ben Whishaw, debuted at Sundance and played at a number of international festivals before being released in the UK by Artificial Eye.
O’Halloran, who is also an actor and collaborated with Lenny Abrahamson (Room) on Garage and Adam & Paul, most recently scripted Paddy Breathnach’s 2015 drama, Viva.
