Vermillion, S.D. — A 16th-century Amati violoncello displayed in the National Music Museum has long been nicknamed "The King," but the ghost of a legendary rock `n' roller has arrived in South Dakota to reclaim his regal moniker.
A slightly smashed acoustic guitar played by Elvis Presley on his final tour in 1977 now greets visitors in front of the museum's main galleries. The Martin D-35 was tossed aside by "The King" during a St. Petersburg, Fla., concert after suffering a broken strap and string, said Robert Johnson, a Memphis-based guitarist who donated the item.
"He broke the strap and at the same time he broke a string," said Johnson, noting Presley's frustration. "He tosses it straight up in the air and it just comes down."

Nashville, Tenn. — Gary Clark Jr. had to learn how to trust someone else to record his major label debut.
When noted producer Mike Elizondo signed on to help with "Blak and Blu," Clark was more than a little leery.
"I'm very sensitive," Clark said, chuckling as he recounted the story in a phone interview. "I like to hold onto what I do, like it's mine and this is the way it is. So I was a bit worried going in, you know? Having not known him, what is this cat gonna do to my songs? They're good as is. But I let it go: This is great, I'm getting to work with this amazing musician, great producer and a cool guy, so get over yourself and just make an album."

Former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant is heading to Mississippi to headline a festival in the historic Delta blues town he recorded a song about in 1999.
Plant recorded "Walking Into Clarksdale" with former Zeppelin bandmate Jimmy Page and has visited the town numerous times. The rock star is returning to Clarksdale this weekend to headline the Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival's 25th anniversary celebration with his new roots-music band, the Sensational Space Shifters.
On Saturday, Plant will take the stage with Grammy-winning vocalist Patty Griffin, West African virtuoso musician Juldeh Camara, guitarists Justin Adams and Bill Fuller, keyboardist John Baggott and drummer Dave Smith.
The performance is being hailed "one of the single biggest things to happen to Clarksdale," said resident and Cat Head music store owner Roger Stolle.
"Robert Plant can do anything in the world he wants to do but chooses to come here and pay homage...

Chicago — Grammy-winning Blues musician David "Honey Boy" Edwards, believed to be the oldest surviving Delta bluesman and whose roots stretched back to blues legend Robert Johnson, died early Monday in his Chicago home, his manager said. He was 96.
Edwards had a weak heart and his health seriously declined in May, when the guitarist had to cancel concerts scheduled through November, said his longtime manager, Michael Frank of Earwig Music Company.
Born in 1915 in Shaw, Miss., Edwards learned the guitar growing up and started playing professionally at age 17 in Memphis.
He came to Chicago in the 1940s and played on Maxwell Street, small clubs and street corners. By the 1950s Edwards had played with almost every bluesman of note – including Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, Charlie Patton and Muddy Waters. Among Edwards' hit songs were "Long Tall Woman Blues," "Gamblin Man" and "Just Like Jesse James."

Tila Tequila's public announcement of her engagement to Casey Johnson apparently didn't help her in getting an invitation to attend her late fiancee's funeral. Talking to E! News recently, the reality TV star said, "I don't want to talk about the funeral. I wasn't allowed to go and I am so upset. I can't sleep and I am on suicide watch."
The Singapore-born TV personality is not the only one left out from the guest list for Casey's funeral service. Several of the Johnson & Johnson heiress' Hollywood friends, such as Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton, and former girlfriend Courtenay Semel were also not invited to the private affair.
Along with reports that Tila admitted she wasn't invited to the funeral, E! slammed down earlier report suggesting that Casey has been laid to rest on Sunday, January 10 at her family's burial plot in New Jersey. The site claimed a source close...

With "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" counting down to its theatrical premiere in about ten days, sequel talks of "High School Musical 4" have been brought up once again. On Sunday, October 12 in "Senior Year" press conference, producer Bill Borden stressed that the fourth installment of the highly successful "High School Musical" is to follow saying, "Yes, there will be a fourth movie."
Hollyscoop reported that Borden further explained, "We haven't actually really even talked about 4 that much together. But we've been working so hard on 3. As a producer, I haven't talked to Disney about 4. We have a ways to go." Though insisting that "HSM 4" will be made, he rejected the idea that it will follow one of the stars to the college. "Personally, I don't think it will be College Musical," so he claimed as quoted by E! Online.
Meanwhile, on the possibility of Sharpay Evan's return which...
