*Updated with dozens of new locations* It was recently announced John Carpenter’s Halloween will return to theaters across the country this October and the first list of participating theaters have been announced.
“This October, John Carpenter’s immortal classic, Halloween, will be making a return to theaters nationwide. This will be the biggest run the film has had since shocking audiences in 1978, and makes for the perfect early kick off to next year’s 35th Anniversary celebration.
Screening before the film will be You Can’T Kill The Bogeyman: 35 Years Of Halloween, a new mini documentary written and directed by our own Justin Beahm, focusing on the undeniable impact the film (and series) has had on culture and the genre. The documentary will run at all screenings coast-to-coast.”
*Note: More locations will be added over the course of the month. Although most of the screenings are expected to start on October 25th,...

If we’ve accepted, years later, that the world will never see another Sopranos, another Sex and the City, another Lost—hell, not even another Entourage—the TV landmarks of 2012 are the shows that stopped the focus on the past. When the brilliant dangers of Homeland arrived to shore, American Horror Story twisted fiction on its head, and Girls became twee-ly epic in all its polarizing mediocrity, they spearheaded a league of new series that took watercooler debate and discussion back to the main stage, making us fall in love with the small screen all over again. Even if the freshmen had to rival the brutal trials of Breaking Bad and the long-awaited return of Donald Draper’s Mad Men, they’re still responsible for forging new ground, reimaging and reinventing the ways we can be shocked, awed, challenged, gripped, enamored, and moved by television.

The nominees for the 2010 Streamys were announced today. The Streamys celebrate online television programming and this year they have a fantastic line up of nominees. Last year was the Streamys debut year and the winners included high profile shows such as Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog and the exceptional Battlestar Galactica web series The Face of the Enemy.
This year there is even more competition with some really interesting content now being released on the web rather than through more traditional media routes. Two of my favourites from this year’s nominee list are the excellent Interview Project which is presented by davidlynch.com and the slightly flawed but thoroughly enjoyable Angel of Death, created by Ed Brubaker and starring Zoe Bell, which also received a DVD release last year.
The awards ceremony takes place on April 11th 2010 and the full list of nominees is listed below with handy links...

Established 1974! Our news column knows the game’s afoot.
Updates
American Dad has been renewed by the Fox network for a sixth season. Family Guy and The Cleveland Show are already go for further seasons. And this Sunday night’s all-Seth MacFarlane animated lineup on Fox now has a sponsor (the suddenly spineless Microsoft having backed out): Warner Bros. The studio will debut new footage of Sherlock Holmes (opening in theaters December 25) as part of MacFarlane’s live-action variety special Seth & Alex’S Almost Live Comedy Show.
Chuck executive producer Scott Rosenbaum is taking over as showrunner of V for its spring flight of nine episodes on ABC. He succeeds The 4400’s Scott Peters (who developed this incarnation of the Kenneth Johnson-created saga). Peters remains on board the series as an executive producer. By the way, ratings were good for V’s premiere last night.
